I think that Horatio's demeanor was one of derision with the way she seems to continue to look at him for some help or assistance like he would help out a victim but not her; like she expects him to be not so formal at work when they are alone but he doesn't-just like when they dated they would...

I too liked seeing Ms Nivens like H so formally addressed her (as if the past doesn't entitle her to ANY favors/special nice treatment from him)he's not forgotten what a snake she can be..almost makes Julia seem like the sweetheart next door...oh and loved all the banter-some of these 'bad guys'...
