Well, that's easy. Grissom was afraid of the reaction when sara heard the "bad news", and he didn't know how to deal with it. At last, Sara knew it and blew up in his face, Grissom was speechless, just one sentence:He(Nick) doesn't care if he get this promotion. I bet he felt it was stupid...
