Actually, this one single spoiler is what convinced me that Sara will live AND will be going back to work as a CSI. I think that they are writing Catherine's name into the script as a foiler, and that really it will be Nick and Sara's case.

I am far from an expert, but here's my two cents anyway! I think that there is a lot of cross-checking between CSIs to make sure that there are no mistakes. I think I remember one episode where money was involved, and two of the CSIs had to count it together so that each acted as a cross-check...
