10 just a cool icon, i like the color and the fact that its not overload with textures and patterns

Least Quality:
08- The color over the shirt completely overwhelms the subject. More contrast (perhaps with a levels layer) over him and less saturation on the shirt color would probably help.
11- His face looks oversharpened and the text doesn't fit in terms of content, color, font and placement.

Best Quality:
02- Sharp coloring and fitting brush and texture use.
09- The texture fits and has a nice grungy feeling to it that doesn't overwhelm the subject. The text is appropriate for the icon and the subject, and the subtle duplicate adds an extra interesting touch.

01 - The icon is oversharpened and James' face blends in with the background
06 - Nice idea, but the black is overpowering and furthermore does the text draw the attention away from James.

05 - Great icon! Nice text effect and good use of the texture.
02 - I had a similar idea. I like the light/circle texture. Well done.

Least:
08: I'm not really sure what it is about it, it's just not that attractive. I think it's because his shirt is coloured, and the saturation is so high that it doesn't really match with the black and white of his skin. It could also use a little blurring.
06: It's hard to find him down in the corner of all the black, underneath the blob of colour. And the text is so big that it draws your eye away from James Dean, who should be the main focus of the icon.

Best:
09: The text is awesome and the texture/whatever you used in the background looks really good. :lol:
02: Just looks cool overall, and really crisp and clear.

08: The red used for coloring his shirt is a bit oversaturated, but on the other hand his face could use a bit more contrast

09: The silhouette is a nice touch and the text goes very well with the icon.
10: This icon looks so alive! The way he turns his face and the texture seems to go with it is very cool.


Nice work everyone, I was sitting here for like 10 minutes just to decide which to choose, it was very hard.

6 - The small tint of color over powers the cropping and James gets lost under that. Also the text distracts because of the size and placement.
4 - James is oddly placed; the diagonal doesn't flow with the rest of the icon. The text is also very hard to read.
