Review The Last Film You Saw ~ Thread 3

I also just saw Twilight last night... 2 times. I have to say I liked it better the second time. I thought it was really cheesy at some points, and the theatre was cracking up at serious scenes but it needs to be that way since it was in the book. I think all the actors did a really good job. And I love how Charlie was a comic relief from all the intensity. Same with Jasper. His face was amazing. :lol: I want to go see it a third time, now.

 

I just saw Untraceable. It's one I've been wanting to see since it came out in theaters. Basically the plot is; someone is torturing and killing people, and he puts up a live stream of the action on the internet. The more viewers the site recieves, the faster the person dies.

I have to admit, I liked it way more than I expected to. I'm a Computer Forensics student, so I was waiting for glaring flaws to distract me from the storyline. I was impressed! Most of the things that happened occur a lot in the computing world. The aspects of the film I most had the program with were just day-to-day things, like coincidences that are just too unlikely (to me at least). All in all, I definitely want to buy myself a copy. I'm wondering if my professor will let us watch it in class

Also, I saw Charlie Bartlett the other day; loved it. Rated R for a reason, but the storyline is really great and it's nice to have a funny movie that's not all about drug/immature humor.

 

The last one I saw was Tropic Thunder. Which pretty much shows that I haven't watched in a long time. Watched it basically with my whole family. It was a blast! I love RDJ to bits. He always comes up with some brilliant acting.

The movie was hilarious and had us laughing out loud in the theatre (I think people were even staring at us). Some really enjoy the part played by Tom Cruise but I'd say that I didn't like it much, more so when he danced. I had nightmares about that. Ben Stiller and Matthew McConaughey played their parts well also. As for Jack Black, I can say I enjoyed his drug addict take in the movie. Brandon T. Jackson was also good especially the part where he slipped about him being gay. Jay Baruchel did a good job complimenting the whole wacko cast with his serious actor persona.

I can say that this is a movie I won't get tired of watching. So I'll trade the Twilight movie for this one anytime.

 

I saw RockNrolla last night and while it wasn't the best Guy Ritchie film I've ever seen, it was still pretty entertaining. Sometimes he just spread the stories too thin... seemed like there was almost too much going on and it wasn't tying together as seamlessly as he usually makes it- seemed a little muddled and scattered sometimes. But still, the parts that were good were really good, in true Ritchie style. Without giving too much away, there's a getaway scene that left me in stitches.

All the performances were good, and Mark Strong in particular was awesome. I've always liked him, so it was good to see him shine. Overall, I'd say 3 out of 5.

I finally saw Quantum of Solace and... I loved it. It was action packed from start to finish and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen.

Anyway, the story is a bit complicated, but if you're paying attention it shouldn't be that hard to follow. The Bond girls aren't bad, and I daresay one of them had a little more depth than the old style versions, who were usually just around for eye candy and nothing else.

I've been hearing mixed reviews, so I didn't know what to expect but seriously, I totally enjoyed this one. Daniel Craig just feels more and more like Bond to me with each undertaking. (I couldn't STAND Brosnan in the role) I'd recommend it to anyone who liked the last one, or who just loves some really well-filmed action.

 

Yestarday I hear that Oliver Stone make new movie. But didn`t expect at all to be for George W. Bush. Sound to be very disappointing.

i watched quantum of solace last night and it was a big disappointment. especially after how good casino royale was. as Baba said the plot is quite complicated, and i got confused quite early on so was trying extra hard to pay attention but i just got confused.

i have no idea who was good, who was bad, who was good pretending to be bad, or bad pretending to be good. i have no idea what the bad guys plan was or why...

Spoiler: more confusion

...the CIA was in league with them. or if they were in league with them. i think the oil stuff was just a cover and they were actually blocking off the water supply and selling it back to bolivia? and helping some guy take over the government? again, im not sure what the point was

the fight/action scenes were also really random. most of the time i had no idea why bond was fighting them. i think a lot of my confusion came from the lack of dialogue. that script must have been about 5 pages long, no one ever talks! there is just punching and shooting. it was such a let down because casino royale was so well written and had some very memorable lines.

 

The only movie I've watched this week (besides Anchorman...which was for the millionth time...) was Twilight...and that was four times (Embarassing, I know. I'm definitely a Twerd). I swear to goodness that is the most times I have ever seen a movie in the theater, but I thought it was soooo good! And Robert Pattinson was definitely something to look at....so I did, over and over and over.

Overall I thought it was pretty good. There was only one scene where I was wondering why the heck they let them act so bad. ("Oh my gosh, your hand is so cold." Yeah, that was bad...) And I have to admit some of Edward's facial expressions (mostly when he was biting, or being bitten...) were hilarious. Other than that it stuck pretty close to the book, which is always a good thing. Kristen Stewart was perfect for Bella in my opinion. Loved her!

Oh, I guess I did watch Panic Room last night. Loved it.

I only watch trillers that have a real plot and since a friend recommended this I found it and watched it.It was a good film.The beginning wasn't the best it could be but as the story continued it showed that the beginning was useful.Smart people that are supposed to save people's lives killing someone.Terrifying.Having an operation and a heart one non the less more terrifying.The storyline was really original and it had some shocking about the characters which is a good thing.

I haven't seen many movies with Jessica Alba but I've never seen her in that kind of role before.Hayden Christiensen was quite good at his role.

 

i saw "Twilight" the day it came out. i thought it was pretty good, i liked how it stayed very close to the books. the only 3 things i didn't like were how it felt rushed, they didn't include Esme story (i know it really had nothing to do with the main story but i really liked her and how she came to be a vampire.... that i wanted to see more Elizabeth Reaser haha), and they didn't play on Alice and Bella's friendship which i think is really important to the story. all in all the movie was good the cast was perfect and the location was perfect.

also just watch An American in Paris with Gene Kelly. i love anything with Gene Kelly, his dancing was phenonmenal and he was so handsome.

 

Twilight. Am I the only one who didn't think it was that great? I guess if you're forced to go to a movie you had no intention of seeing, then the movie could come off as annoying (My friends made me see it. I wanted to see Role Models, but was over ruled ). I'm also not into the romantic/mystery/fantasy type movies, so take my review with a grain of salt if you'd like . I thought it was interesting and it kept my attention for the most part. I would have to say my favorite part is the soundtrack. Great music in the movie and I've been listening to it since I saw the movie (about two weeks ago). I enjoyed the character of Edward Cullen, and understand why everyone was going bananas over him. He is an old fashioned type of gentleman that has disappeared off the radar during this time of shovenism and self-absorbtion. Don't worry, this won't turn into a feministic review, I promise.

The only problem I had was that it felt as if it was over acted. The actors were deep into their characters which was great, that's what actors are supposed to do. But when the character gets annoyingly dramatized and over-zealous, it turns me off. I'm also not into the 'media stuffed' movies aka movies that are forcefed down our throats through every single media outlet possible.

I did enjoy it though. Don't get me wrong. I thought the secondary cast (Bella's Dad, Edward's family) was more amazing then the supposed star crossed lovers. Maybe I'd be more of a fan if I read the books?

Role Models. HILARIOUS! I'm not into the raunchy, vulgar, college dropout movies. But this one was actually funny. I'm glad to see Seann William Scott come back into movies. It had been a while since he has been in anything good. There is some extremely course language in the movie and some suggestive scenes, but overall a pretty good movie IMO.

 

Yeah, I just saw Twilight myself and thought it was so-so. Normally I love this genre, and I sort of wanted to see the film because I was unable to read the book (it's written in the first person, and I don't really like books written from that perspective). I agree that the acting was pretty decent from the leads, and in fact from most of the supporting actors. I also liked that it felt a little more real in terms of representing kids of that age- unlike say the new 90210 or Gossip Girl which both just seem a tad unrealistic when it comes to portraying high schoolers. The dialogue was pretty good in this respect as well.

I know Catherine Hardwicke (director) complained that she was grossly underfunded for this film, so I can forgive the limited special effects, but truthfully that wasn't really a big deal since it was sort of a minor part of the film anyway.

Overall, the movie was just sort of OK. Not great, not terrible, just average. And if it wasn't for the hordes of teenaged girls who have been dying for this movie to come out, I'd say it would have eventually drifted into movie-history obscurity otherwise.

Second: Transporter 3

Again, Statham looks hot, the action is hot, and the pace is mostly frenetic. The storyline was a little weak, but whatever- the plotline is really just a mechanism to keep the suped-up action moving along, so that's really a minor quibble. The one thing I didn't really enjoy though: the supporting actress. Usually even the most whiny characters have some ability for you to feel some sympathy for them, or even just grow to like them in general. Not this character. She was just annoying, plain and simple.

If you loved the action of Transporter 1 and 2, then I'm thinking you'll probably enjoy this one as well, but I'd say it's the weakest film of the 3.

 

Notorious

this is an old Alfred Hitchcock movie with Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. i loved it. the story was soo interesting and the way it was filmed was brilliant. what i loved was the romance b/t CG and IB's characters. for it's time (1946) it was a provocative and even now it's sexy even if they couldn't kiss for more than 3 seconds at a time. i like how Hitchcock toyed with the viewers emotions, in some scenes it's sympathy for the characters, in others it's a state of some sort of paranoia or fear. after watching this i know why Hitchcock, Cary Grant, and Ingrid Bergman were some of the greatest talents in Hollywood.

 

I watched Burn After Reading last week. It was fun! One person said it was horrible while the other said it was very good.. so I was looking forward to watching it. I loved the part in which Brad Pitt danced. I also loved the woman who played Linda Litzke, she did really well. Overall, I think the movie was good. It wouldn't have been that good when John Malkovich wasn't in there..
