New world record in 100 meters! Usain Bolt ran in 9.69 (or 9.68 which was the first result after the race, all cause of wind)! That was amazing... Two meters before the second competitor from Trynidad and Tobago. Asafa Powell was fifith! Bronze medal for Walter Dix from States. I still can't believe how amazing was that race! Few meters Bolt ran a little bit slower. He knew that he's the best there.

Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps are definitely heroes of the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Indeed. Did you see the actual race? Bolt slowed down at the end to take honors! It could have been just a wee bit faster than 9.69 seconds. 6 of the 8 finalists had times under 10 seconds! Un-bloody-believable. What's even more amazing is that Bolt is the 200 m specialist. First men's 100 m gold medal in Jamaican history! Fantastic!

    Congrats Canada! :)

The 100m Mens Final was like nothing I have ever seen before. I was all ready for the gym. I had my car keys in my hand and intending on goin straight after the 100m race. 30 mins later I'm still sat there flabberghasted. I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. He wound down at 80m. If he has push to the line he could have got another 10th off. I knew Gay wouldn't qualify he looked ropey in round 2. Dissapointment for our Kelly Sotherton in the Heptathlon I really thought she would do it in the absense for Kluft. I can't see another medal coming from the Athletics now aside from Idowu in the triple jump. We might get a relay medal but thats about it. We're quite dirge at atheltics at the mo

I'm bummed....James Blake lost his bronze medal match and ended up finishing fourth...oh well onto the US Open for you my friend. And possibly the 2012 games in London? Wimbledon perhaps?

Austria won three medals so far, one silver (judo) and two bronze medals (swimming and canoe). The woman who won the canoe medal had a heart surgery a few months ago. I was soo happy that she won a medal.
The big surprise for us is that Markus Rogan didn't win a medal. He finished only fourth in his strongest discipline. Sometimes I can't stand the guy, but I felt sorry for him. Mirna Jukic finished fourth too.

We have one female and one male beach volley team in the quarter finals. I saw today Austria vs. Latvia and it was a great game.
I cross my fingers for them.:)

Eee! Congratulations to Phelps for winning 8 gold medals in a single olympics! I'm not American but I was rooting for him anyways. He really deserved that. I couldn't be happier for him. Haha you should have seen me when he was racing. I was screaming and swearing at my tv. :p

Fantastic acheivement from Phelps. I don't think anyone expected Spitz's record to be beaten. Pheps is the greatest swimmer of all time.

Closer to home though GB are having their best games in 100 years. We've climbed to 3rd in the medal table with 11 Golds, infact if you take Michael Phelps medals away from USA's tally of 19 the UK and US would be tied on Gold Medals. GB only entered 300odd atheltes into these games where as USA eneted 600odd GB are certainley punching above their weight. I don't think we will maintain 3rd position the Russians are likely to get up therein the 2nd week but I'm expecting Britain to get 15 golds at least by this time next week.

Canada got 4 more medals today. 1 gold and 3 bronze. One of the bronze was in swimming. All the other medals from today were for rowing. The Men's 8 rowing team won the gold leading from start to finish. In Athens 4 years ago they had a disappointing 5th place finish but not this year. They are the first team since 1973 to win gold at the Olympics and be the World Champions. Great going guys :)

No matter how many medals Canada wins I'm proud of the athletes that represent Canada. They are the best that Canada has :)

It's a good day for Poland too. Silver medal in weightlifting, bronze in wrestling and gold in rowing! Sadly Szymon Ziolkowski didn't get a medal in hammer throw, ladies in steeple chase also disappointed. Few other finals are waiting. Maybe next medals?:D

And big congrats to Micheal Phelps! He's amazing! Eight gold medals and seven world records.

We’ve got two medals in rowing, gold in men’s quadruple sculls and silver in lightweight four :D It’s a pity Ziolkowski didn’t make it, I hoped we’d get five medals in one day :) But four are also great :D

Well, Spain has a few more medals:
-Gold in track cycling for Joan LLaneras (he was gold in Sydney and silver in Athens and he's already 39!).
-Silver for the female doubles tennis team (Anabel Medina and Virginia Ruano), the Williams sisters were too tough.
-Gold in singles men tennis: Rafael Nadal is the number 1 !!!!
-Silver in gymnastics for Gervasio Deferr (he was gold in Sydney and Athens).
-Gold or at least silver in sailing (49er), the Danish team were using the Croatian boat and that's not allowed so the judges are still deliberating who won.

It's a pity that Marta Domínguez fell down so close to the finishing line in 3000 women steeplechase when she was fighting for the silver or bronze. :(

The reason why I love the Olympics is that I get to see certain sports i dont normally watch. This weekend has been fantastic for GB team. The rowing, fantastic.
