I think H is going to be pulling a Raymond... I thought, in the last frame, he seriously looked dead. No eye movements, no blinking, nothing. Was it just my imagination?? Anyone else notice this? Was he still alive when the camera panned out through the broken sunglasses??

Someone should post the last scenes on youtube! Hahaha I need to watch it again.

With regards to Ryan, I was surprised he got a text message after Horatio was shot saying "it was done", but then I thought back to the episode where Ryan was acting as a bodyguard for a teenage internet celeb, and he was tracking text messages and posts on his i-phone in an attempt to stay one step ahead of the paparazzi. I think maybe he was asked by Horatio to possibly 1) escort Julia and Kyle to the airport and couldn't get away on time; 2) accompany Horatio to the airport to serve as backup, and again, couldn't get away; 3) keep tabs on Ron Saris, which includes surveillance on emails and texts between him and his associates. Although another possibility would be that Ryan's gambling connections have led him down a dark path, but I'd hate to see Ryan turn into another Warrick Brown. Why do the franchises all have to borrow one another's storylines?
    Anyhow, that's my two cents :) .

YES! Thank you for saying this so clearly. Especially the last point -- that makes a lot of sense to me and is exactly what I thought, too.

H HAS to come back!!!!! He wants the ones who put the hit on him to think he's dead and he's going undercover. Just a thought. He'll be back! H rocks CSI:Miami. Ryan had a very mean look on his face when he received the text that it's done. I was devastated! Surely, not him! I've always liked him. Julia has to be in on this plot somehow. She's devious. She told someone that H would be at the airport at 5.

I agree with you - I watched it like 4 times and I swear all I saw was wet tarmac and no blood.

I also thought that was Alexx going into the station.

My 1st reaction to the whole Ryan text message thing - was hello no - they did not just make him bad! I do think though that the editing is messing with us. That message could have come at anytime, from anyone, about anything. We are assuming it has to do with the shooting.....It could be that Calleigh was telling him the interview was done and he was having a bad day - hence the mean face. I think it is likely that he is part of a staged shooting....only time will tell!

I should say that those who don't like my reviews, shouldn't really read this one. All it is though is my opinion on the episode.

    ~ ~

What happened to those discs Delko and Calleigh gathered? Have they been viewed? Have they been dumped? Huh?

Wouldn’t an ME be experienced enough to know the difference between a breath and a death rattle? For one a breath is breathing in and the other, a death rattle, is breathing out? Um, new ME doesn’t mean novice in my opinion.

...And, yeah, miamirocks Super H strikes again. Much too macho to take cover against a sniper. Still he must have been slightly rattled (ha! ha!) because he let off a few shots without actually knowing where he should be firing. Nice one. And then we have him bending down to see if the new ME is alive or not. I wonder what he thought the hole in her forehead was all about. Didn't he pay attention when he recently put one of those holes in a couple of criminal heads? Hmm?

I actually liked the female ME for the brief moment she was on-screen. Such a shame she didn’t last long.

Sorry, but what is it with big breasted women and their seemingly penchant need, or maybe it’s the director’s seemingly penchant need, to have their titties almost in full view of the viewing audience. Oh, yeah, sorry, of course – chuckle. ‘No, no, hold the q-tip a bit higher… a bit higher... aaaand... Yeah, that’s tit, uh, it. Perfect.’

Goodness me, Horatio is now grasping at straws so fast it’s getting silly. Where’s this one time methodical CSI Agent gone to? How could he possibly come to the conclusion that the ATF guy got his ME killed? It’s just boll*cks, and talk about dumbing down the ATF guy and have him fall for that utter crap. Ugh!

Um, interesting. Is Delko so damaged that he wouldn’t have passed a refresher course if it had come out that the written reminder of procedures had been his? Is he really that much of a liability? And if he is, what’s he still doing out in the field? Though I suppose that’s been the question since he got shot in the head.

Hmm, why did Horatio pull in Ron Saris? What on earth prompted him to think that Saris would be involved in Ortega’s death? Horatio had nothing whatsoever on Saris, not even a suspicion. Oh but then he sure had one when he saw the powder burn. But again, what prompted Horatio to pull Saris in in the first place? Can I say "contrived in the worst way possible", you know so that Saris pushes Horatio a little further into the dark side. Ugh!

I know that I have demonstrated long and hard about how much they have ruined the Horatio character for me, but I have only done that because of how much I adored the character. Now however, they don’t seem to be satisfied in making him 'Super H', or that he now has such strong vigilante tendencies. Nononono, now they’re going the whole hog by destroying the methodical, gathering of evidence approach that he had. Way to go PTBs, or should I be giving that accolade to DC?

All I can say is that it’s a very, very sad state of affairs when a ‘Villain’ like Saris has more of solid case backing him up than a supposed ‘Good Guy’ like Horatio Caine has. Sad!

As for the ‘kill(?)’ shot. There were no exit wounds, there was no blood.

In my opinion, if Horatio had been shot for real by the bullet Calleigh had described there would have at the very least been exit wounds (we were shown that). So, either Horatio prepared himself with what Calleigh said would disintegrate the bullet believing that someone would take a shot at him, or the bullet was not the one Calleigh had described earlier and the shot came from the other person involved in Horatio's ‘set-up’. Either way Horatio survives. Well, evne when you discount the Super H and that DC is the lead of a successful program, those who saw the behind the scenes video at CBS knew this was the 'set-up'.

As for Ryan, it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s up to no good. I mean, there now seems to be a complete lack of foreshadowing, so it wouldn’t surprise me if next season they introduced the scenario of him getting involved with some pretty nasty people. However, I don’t think he’s involved in anything other than the set-up.

    ~ ~
All in all, I’m afraid this episode was a bit of a joke for me. Most of it was spent on Horatio Caine posturing as if he was Mr Clean against the bad guys, running around like a headless chicken throwing ineffectual, extremely lame threats at someone like Saris who in the past wouldn’t have caused a smatter of a reaction from him. I suppose the truth must hurt Horatio more than he's ever let on, but thenif he wasn;t all vigilante and he actually gathered the evidence against people like Saris, then he wouldn't have to go through those teeth gritting, jaw grinding moments, would he.

...And, sadly, because of DC’s major slip in the behind the scenes video on CBS, the ending of this episode only promises me that the next season is to be more of the same – Vigilante Caine.

Sorry, but what is the premise of this program again?

Don’t get me wrong, I honestly wish that I could still be as enthralled in this program as I used to be, but they ruined the character that held it together for me. Now though, CSI Miami is no longer a Crime Scenes Investigation program but a program about a man who goes vigilante when something just doesn't go the way he wants it to.

I apologise if my review upsets people, it is just the way how I viewed the finale, and how I think CSI Miami has wandered from its original concept and finally how far the Horatio Caine character has fallen for me, that’s all.

    ...Sorry...

I can't say I was real impressed with this epi, it was better than last season but it didn't give me a "shock" the way I had wanted it too.

It seems very obvious it is stages & that Ryan is just helping in the situation.
Was he really shot? Couldn't he have just been shot with blanks??
There wasn't blood from what I could tell & anyone who is going to fake thier death will lay there & fidget & LOOK DEAD. That's the point, right?

I'll give Ryan the benefit of the doubt here, I don't see him being our new villain. Besides, in his line of work he would know better than to leave anything behind that would trace "the murder" back to himself, & having "it's done" on your cell phone & telling your co-worker "I have to take care of something" RIGHT before thier boss is shot, it would look bad on him. I think all that was just supposed to leave viewers thinking he could have shot Horatio. Sorry, lame, too obvious if you ask me. Although the part when Ron told H that he had been at the shooting range immediately made me go "hmmmm". Could Ryan being one who worked there at the start of this season already have known Ron & has been in cahoots with him all along??
Really, I do not know, I would hope not, but that statement was something that left me wondering.

What was up with the guy stepping into the plane & locking the door?
That just seemed odd that there was a bit too much focus on that. Was it supposed to mean something?
Maybe Horatio did purposely take the bullet & theres a whole medical team in that plane waiting to revive him.

One thing that I thought was way too obvious was Horatio standing outside the plane, in plain sight, no one around, he shifted his glasses & took a deep breath like he knew what was coming, & was actually waiting for it.

My only real complaint is that TPTB made this out to look as if Horatio was taking one FOR THE TEAM, & that the CSIs would be targeted.
No of course not:rolleyes: It was all about Horatio saving his son.
I was waiting to see this "team gel"...:wtf:
There was a bit of nice interaction....Eric & Calleigh, Eric & Natalia, Calleigh telling Horatio to let her know what she could do.
But really, I was looking for some better team interaction with Horatio. Everyone out to save each other & save Horatio, that was a big disappointment.
Hopefully that will come next season.

    :)

Yes there was blood that started to seep out around his body. I have a 62" HD TV - I see things sometimes that people don't!!! It was there - trust me on this.

At first, I thought that Ryan had the guy who was in jail's phone (maybe retrieved it after the guy had to give up all of his items when he was booked) to track any communication that he would be getting from anyone on the outside. The first look he gave after he read that message looked like he was thinking to himself "What does this mean?" and then as he walked away, he had that cold look - which kind of contradicted the first look.

Then I remember that he did get the iPhone (I saw him using it in earlier episodes) so I do believe that was HIS own phone. Maybe like another person said he has a tracker on Saris' phone? It's just weird that when the guy in jail was on the phone he said in Spanish "Let me know when it's done" and that is exactly what the text said on the phone.

I definitely think that the whole thing was staged in order to catch Saris. H kept saying to Julia that Saris would try to eliminate him and then kill her and then the last person left standing in the way would be Kyle. I think H is trying to get Saris before he kills Julia and Kyle and he can do that with a fake death and go undercover to catch him. Remember someone (I forgot who) asked him earlier in the episode "Wouldn't you kill to save your family?" and H smiled - oh I remember now - it was the guy who is in jail that said in Spanish "Let me know when it's done"

So much of the epsiode makes no sense to me. I am also confused about the whole Calleigh lab incident. Should she have been allowed to process immediately after that happened? I can't believe no one "talked" to her about it.

Oh, you know, I almost forgot about the CDs from last week - what the heck happened to them?? I thought that was going to set up this episode, but it was never mention - what the #$@#$ :wtf:

Della - I too thought it was weird that the ME didn't know that it was a "death rattle." I also agree that I was very unimpressed w/H in this episode. Not a lot of "following the evidence" like there had been in recent eps. I think H is just frustrated b/c he can't nail Ron Saris - he can't PROVE w/evidence that Ron did anything, even though he knows in his gut that Ron is a killer. It kind of reminds me of that Season 1 ep. "Ashes to Ashes," where that man killed his girlfriend in the car fire b/c she was pregnant, and H and Eric couldn't nail him w/the evidence and H gets pissed. Anyway, H is definitely not the H of old, and I too noticed how he didn't take cover in the first scene. It's like the man has a death wish.

Mjszud - Totally agree w/you - I was underwhelmed by the amount of "team" interaction. Can they get more than two characters in a scene? Why can all the other CSIs have the ENTIRE TEAM in a scene, but Miami can't manage to get more than two CSIs in a scene at a time? We need more GROUP interaction - the fire in the lab was a great opportunity for that. You don't think H would rush to the scene to see what was going on in HIS lab? (like he does EVERY OTHER TIME someone on his team is in trouble) And what about Ryan and Nat?? Where were they? There is no "team" chemistry anymore, and that really makes me sad, b/c that's what the show was originally was built on. The FRIENDSHIPS.

I have a theory this ep:

The whole thing with H was staged. The plane doors close, he texts someone and then the plane revs up. There is a sound of a gun shot and he falls to the ground. Notice after he falls to the ground, the planes engines seem to die down. Also if the palne were ready to move, why would he still be standing there? He pissed everyone off in this ep, so him staging his death wouldn't be far fetched b/c then all the players who had a stake in wanting him dead would be pointing the fingers at each other and that would give H the opportunity to go after Saris. Ryan is in on it. H probably texted him saying "Its Done" meaning the all the pieces are in play and you do your part now.

I don't think he was shot with a fused alloy bullet. Calleigh said earlier in the ep that if someone was wearing a bullet proof vest the bullet would go through whole b/c of the cold of the jacket. But if the person wasn't wearing one then it would break apart b/c of the heat of our bodies; H had no exit wounds on him...so he wasn't shot with a fused alloy bullet. If he was shot at all, he was hit with a regular bullet.

There was blood below H, when the camera zooms out you can see it if you take a closer look

I thought I might have seen that but considering the tarmac was jet black and shiny...it was hard to tell.

I thought the broken sunglasses, which they have been using in the commericals all season long was great. The pan out through them was also cool.

Hopefully we won't have to wait long. for a conclusion...Vegas and NY already have spoilers out for next season!!! I think they have already started shooting...Miami might be close behind! The only reason I could think of that there aren't any spoilers out for Miami yet is....the premiere might guest characters not need one since it is a cliffhanger and/or TPTB were waiting til the ep aired to put out spoilers b/c it is a cliffhanger. Wouldn't want to give away what happens in the ep before it actually aired! So if Miami follows suit with Vegas and NY, I am hoping to see some spoilers in the next couple of days.....be sure if I do that I will let you all know. :D

 We're all beginning to sound like conspiracy theorists. With all our theories on what actually happened. But it's fun all this guessing, and I reckon tptb got us to do what they wanted. Keep guessing and speculating. I'm again stating the obvious but there's no way of knowing what happened till next season. Darn! I can't stand this cliffhanger feeling, it feels like something knawing at you making you uneasy till the truth is out.

I watched the whole epy this time. And this is what I concluded.

The shooting was indeed staged. DC already said so anyway in the 'Behind The Scenes' interview. However what they wanted to keep us guessing was who's in on it and whether the shooting went actually like H planned.

Here's the clues that were dropped:
    1. The alloy, body armor piercing bullets (whatchama-call-it)
    2. Ron Saris and his threats to H
    3. Juan Ortega and his threats to H
    4. H telling Julia on purpose, immediately after Ron tells H he married Julia, to meet him at the airfield
    5. Ryan telling Cal he was late for something
    6. H grabbing a handful of those suppposedly 'every shot is a kill shot' bullets (he never put them back!)
    7. Julia telling Kyle she had to be some place
    8. Kyle with the gun (what was that all about?)
    9. H making himself a target at the airfiled
    10. The plane door closing (IMO H told the pilot to close the door to keep him safe, that or Frank or someone else who's in on it is in there waiting to save H should anything go wrong)
    11. H sending a text message right before the shot goes off
    12. Ryan getting the text message with the very same words Juan Ortega used over the phone
    13. Oh and I almost forgot, H whispering something we all didn't get to hear into Juan Ortega's ear.

There were many clues, many possible players, I say Miss Scarlett in the library with the candlestick.... opps wrong game :p

IMO H staged it, got Ryan in on it as a back-up hence the text message. Juan Ortega was the one who ordered the hit on H but he didn't know that it would be staged. The "It's Done" Ryan got on is cell was from H to tell him things were set in motion and to go to the airfiled and declare him "dead". It couldn't be Ryan intercepting the text from the shooter to Juan Ortega because they don't allow cellphones in jail, so the shooter wouldn't have tried to text someone in jail. The play of words with "It's Done" was to make us think Ryan was in on it.

Ron Saris probably didn't have anything to do with the hit on H, neither did Julia, they were probably the red herrings. Or Ron could be in on it with Ortega. Doesn't matter either way H is "dead" and he had no choice, he had nothing on Ron to put him away but he wanted to protect Kyle and staging his death would free him to go after Ron. Remember he told Ron "there're many kinds of justice"?

Phew.... sorry long post but here's a little more.

On the whole the epy was ok for me, there were parts I loved, H's interaction with Kyle, E/C, H looking totally hot, Ryan looking totally hot... I liked the female ME she looked like she had potential, too bad she died. I feel this whole epy was just a build-up to next season premiere.

Doesn't the new ME look like Ryan? I don't know that was the first thing that came to mind, not the hot Ryan just a not very good-looking lookalike.

What I'd hope to see is that somehow H's plan went wrong and he got shot for real, or he fakes his death so he doesn't have to take justice into his own hands this time :)lol:I wish....). Ryan catched Saris for atempted murder of H and gets put away for life. Whatever it is I think Ron isn't gonna have a very good ending. H always gets his man, even if it take a long while.

Many apologies for the long post!
