Wow, this was my favorite of the season. I'm thinking its the writing strike, I've heard a lot of people thinking that there are no episodes because of the strike. But idk.
I was underwhelmed with both episodes of CSI and GA but I liked CSI's episode better, so its good to know CSI won in viewership. The ratings are plummeting already for both primetime and late night shows because of the writer's strike and experts expect a 20%-ish decline in the ratings (of primetime TV shows) if the writer's strike drags on.
So the number of viewers isn't necessarily going down because of Sara's leaving? Good. Why would the numbers drop, though, because of the strike? To support the writers?
I think part of the reason is the fact that they are missing episodes, and putting in re-runs. Doesn't really help with the consistency of the show. Some people may kinda fall outta the groove of watching a series!
I don't really think the ratings drop is because Sara is gone...this season has been up and down even when she was on the show. It is the holiday season, and people get busy doing other things instead of watching TV. It seems a lot of shows are experiencing lower ratings...heck grey's anatomy still came in lower than CSI.
Thank's sarahvma I wondered if the ratings would plummet, when she left, and although some fans don't think that's the reason, she's very popular, and with her gone, some have lost interest I've been talking to customers and they've fizzled out, and don't want to watch it with her gone, and if WP leaves bye-bye CSI
If the ratings are in decline because of Sara leaving, then why is Grey's ratings lower then usual. I think it's the Strike.
its highly presumptive to say the ratings drop is because of sara. ratings for all shows are way down and it all got started last year. its more complicated than just one character leaving. there are probably as many csi fans that are glad she is gone or dont care as there are those who may be inclined to tune out without sara.
I didn't say my opinion was the be-all, end-all. It's just my opinion. Last year, the first episode in December (Loco Motives, Episode 10) got over 23 million viewers. So it's hard to blame it on the time of year. The writer's strike? Maybe, but wouldn't people at least check to see if it's a new episode? It seems odd that people would go, "Oh, writer's strike - I'm going to completely not turn on my TV for a few months." From their last non-holiday episode (episode eight), GA dropped 10%. CSI dropped 13%. From their premieres, Grey's is down 15.7%. CSI is down 26%. So for GA to be at 17 is not nearly as significant as CSI being at 18.
yep, plus the fact that there has been a week without a new episode in the middle of it, that dosen't help either. I liked Sara a lot, and didn't want Jorja Fox to leave. But tbh, now that she has gone, I can't really say I'm pining for her as much as I did like her. I really don't think she had that much of a hold on the show, on some sure, but not on a huge chunk of the audience. Certainly not the same sort of hold the lead characters do. And here leaving dosen't explain other shows suffering at this time. Which kinda makes it a moot point. Funny thing is, along with the crossover, the other best and most unique episodes so far this season have been the last 2, imo. So people are missing out
I would say CSI's number just haven't really been all that high this season except for the premiere which was the end of a continuation. If the show was constantly hitting the mid 20s or right below it, and then came in with 18.66 million viewers....I'd say Sara had an impact. But, I don't think JF leaving caused the ratings to plummet. Last year we also weren't dealing with a strike as we are this year. JF's absence has not stirred me away from CSI...and it never will. Plus, I've heard a lot of people who are not bothered that she left. Besides that...if you take a look at Grey's numbers it seems to be doing the same thing. I realize that CSI has taken a big drop since the premiere this season, but that was also a continuation which always brings in high numbers. So I think it's pretty much the same with every show.
the fact that grays and other shows have been lower than normal as well, indicates something else is going on with the ratings... I am sure some have stopped watching because of sara leaving, but i doubt there are that many. Really, its the relative position thats important.
