Survivor? We Call It Camping ~ Canadian Thread #5

Re: Canadian Thread #5

Yeah, I don't think there's much chance of us getting anymore warm weather. I actually made the mistake of going out without a scarf today. Not gonna do that again...

Re: Canadian Thread #5

lol....I faced the realization not to long ago, of no more warm weather until spring....SOooo, I got my winter tires out of hiding and took them and put them on my car last week.

Last night I went to let my dog out, and she wouldn't go down over the patio stairs...I tried to encourage her to by going out myself, but slid across the patio. LOL, I quickly realized why she was nervous and didn't go down. She went out the front door after...smart little dog!

Re: Canadian Thread #5

DJRideout you definitely have a smart dog if it doesn't want to go out on slippery stairs. That's the only part of winter I hate is the ice

LibertyBell I haven't broken out the scarf yet but there are some mornings when I do require the mitts to touch the steering wheel. Darn vehicle gets cold sitting out over night

Re: Canadian Thread #5

Ah, yes, the ice. Can't wait until the first time that shows up so we can start the guessing game of how many times I'm going to fall this year.

One year it was so embarrassing. I fell on the sidewalk and a woman driving past actually pulled her car over to the side of the street, put her window down, and asked me if I was okay. I know, it was kind of sweet, but also really really embarrassing.

Re: Canadian Thread #5

hmmm...slipping and falling. Definitely a winter sport of mine as well... I seem to be accident prone as it is, let alone in the winter time with ice.

Re: Canadian Thread #5

LibertyBell if you live in the Toronto area I'm impressed the driver stopped to ask if you were OK :) You do occasionally get drivers that do care though

Re: Canadian Thread #5

Well I'm in the suburbs, so I guess it's a bit more common, but yeah. I much perfer the times when I fall and jump back up, look around and sigh in relief when I realize nobody saw that. ;)

Re: Canadian Thread #5

LibertyBell that happened to me before... but instead of a lady in a car asking me if I was ok it was a bunch of people in a Timmies laughing at me

Re: Canadian Thread #5

 I think if you haven't slipped on the ice and fallen (and been embarased) at some point, you aren't truely Canadian :p

My Dad emailed this to me, and I just had to share it with you guys. It just cracked me up.

Now that Vancouver has won the chance to host the 2010 Winter Olympics, these are some questions people the world over are asking! Believe it or not these questions about Canada were posted on an International Tourism Website. Obviously the answers are a joke but the questions were really asked.

Q: I have never seen it warm on Canadian TV, so how do the plants grow? (England)
A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around and watch them die.

Q: Will I be able to see Polar Bears in the street? (USA)
A: Depends on how much you've been drinking.

Q: I want to walk from Vancouver to Toronto can I follow the Railroad tracks? (Sweden)
A: Sure, it's only Four thousand miles, take lots of water.

Q: Is it safe to run around in the bushes in Canada? (Sweden)
A: So it's true what they say about Swedes.

Q: It is imperative that I find the names and addresses of places to contact for a stuffed Beaver. (Italy)
A: Let's not touch this one.

Q: Are there any ATM's (cash machines) in Canada ? Can you send me a list of them in Toronto , Vancouver , Edmonton and Halifax ? (England)
A: What did your last slave die of?

Q: Can you give me some information about hippo racing in Canada? (USA)
A: A-fri-ca is the big triangle shaped continent south of Europe. Ca-na-da is that big country to your North...oh forget it. Sure, the hippo racing is every Tuesday night in Calgary. Come naked.

Q: Which direction is North in Canada? (USA)
A: Face south and then turn 180 degrees. Contact us when you get here and we'll send the rest of the directions .

Q: Can I bring cutlery into Canada? (England)
A: Why? Just use your fingers like we do.

Q: Can you send me the Vienna Boys' Choir schedule? (USA)
A: Aus-tri-a is that quaint little country bordering Ger-man-y, which is...oh forget it. Sure, the Vienna Boys Choir plays every Tuesday night in Vancouver and in Calgary, straight after the hippo races. Come naked.

Q: Do you have perfume in Canada? (Germany)
A: No, we don't stink.

Q: I have developed a new product that is the fountain of youth. Can you sell it in Canada ? (USA)
A: Anywhere significant numbers of Americans gather.

Q: Can you tell me the regions in British Columbia where the female population is smaller than the male population ? (Italy)
A: Yes, gay nightclubs.

Q: Do you celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada ? (USA)
A: Only at Thanksgiving.

Q: Are there supermarkets in Toronto and is milk available all year round? (Germany)
A: No, we are a peaceful civilization of Vegan hunter/gathers. Milk is illegal.

Q: I have a question about a famous animal in Canada, but I forget its name. It's a kind of big horse with horns. (USA)
A: It's called a Moose. They are tall and very violent. They roam the city streets eating the brains of anyone walking close to them. Spraying yourself with human urine before you go out walking will scare them off.

Q: Will I be able to speak English most places I go? (USA)
A: Yes, but you will have to learn it first.

Re: Canadian Thread #5

Oh DragonflyDreamer thank you for that laugh  The answers are a hoot  again thanks :)

Re: Canadian Thread #5

Ok that was so funny that I am glad no one is home or else they would have once again thought I was crazy for laughing so hard at some thing I saw on the computer(it happens a lot)I especially liked the moose one.

I can't believe that there are people in other parts of the world that are that un-educated about other countries. I'm surprised there weren't any igloo questions.

Re: Canadian Thread #5

lol...I've read that somewhere before, but always get a chuckle out of it when read again...thanks DD!

Re: Canadian Thread #5

It is sad that the rest of the world doesn't know anything about us, but the plus is we get to read funny things like this. ;)

I especially love the hippo one, and the last one. One of my American friends actually asked me once if we had fireworks on Canada Day. Thankfully one of our Canadian friends took that one. If I had gotten to it...the American and I probably wouldn't be friends anymore.

Re: Canadian Thread #5

ahhh...its sad that some of those came from the US. Its not like they are far away from canada. Sometimes i wonder if other countries don't have world maps...
