Just a head's up on my grammar: I don't know whether it should be Grammys, or Grammy's, and either way my computer says it's wrong, so I'm just going with Grammys for now.

So, I did a search here on TalkCSI to see if there was a thread for this year's Grammys, and I didn't see anything, and heck, I like you guys and want your opinions on this. Here goes nothing. A little info on the Grammys (as of Sunday, January 28, 2007) (all that follows came from Wikipedia, so I don't know how reliable it is):
They are going to be on Sunday, February 11th, at the Staples Center in LA (obviously).

    PERFORMERS:

    Christina Aguilera
    Beyonce
    Mary J. Blige
    Dixie Chicks
    Gnarls Barkley
John Legend, John Mayer & Corinne Bailey Rae
    Ludacris
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
    The Police
    Justin Timberlake
    Carrie Underwood

    PRESENTERS:

    Black Eyed Peas
    Ciara
    Nelly Furtado
    Terrence Howard
    Samuel L. Jackson
    Pink
    Rihanna

    MAJOR CATAGORIES:

    Record of the Year:
-Be Without You - Mary J. Blige
    -You're Beautiful - James Blunt
-Not Ready To Make Nice - Dixie Chicks
    -Crazy - Gnarls Barkley
-Put Your Records On - Corinne Bailey Rae

    Album of the Year:
-Taking The Long Way - Dixie Chicks
    -St. Elsewhere - Gnarls Barkley
    -Continuum - John Mayer
-Stadium Arcadium - Red Hot Chili Peppers
    -FutureSex/LoveSounds - Justin Timberlake

    Song of the Year:
-Be Without You - Mary J. Blige
-Jesus, Take The Wheel - Carrie Underwood
-Not Ready To Make Nice - Dixie Chicks
-Put Your Records On - Corinne Bailey Rae
    -You're Beautiful - James Blunt

    Best New Artist:
    -James Blunt
    -Chris Brown
    -Imogen Heap
    -Corinne Bailey Rae
    -Carrie Underwood

There are LOTS more categories, but I had neither the time nor the patience to put them up, you can see a complete list here on my LJ. . Or, if you want to go laugh at all the random awards they have (they have awards for Polka. I never would have guessed). Or, if you are a fellow music geek like myself and like to know about all the producers and classical music recordings and stuff like that.

So, are there any surprises on that list? Are you looking forward to any of the performances (or the presenters somewhat lame jokes ;)) Will you watch 'em at all? Are you lookin' forward to the crazy get-ups the attendees wear?

(I'll post my opinions later... my brain's fried for now.)

    Enjoy! :D

You're Beautiful by James Blunt came out in the summer of 2005. Is it really nominated a year and a half after the fact?

The 2006 recording year started on October 1, 2005 and ended on September 30, 2006. I guess it's because they need time to get their votes in (and all the other big awards shows are on around January/February).
