yeah, the way i said. first i downloaded one of the free programs to convert video files, then i converted the wmv winamp video into avi. ImageReady opens all files that are in avi format, so at this point it wasn't a problem.

1 question, how do you cap a video?

    great tut Roos, btw!

I only know how to do that using 'Windows Media Player':

    - First you have to disable overlays in WMP
-> Tools -> Options -> Performance -> Advanced -> uncheck 'use overlays' (twice)

    - Play your video in WMP
-> Use pause/play to freeze it on the scene you want to 'cap' -> Use the 'PrtScr' option on your keyboard

    - Go to "Windows Paint' or your own Photo editing program
-> (new ->) paste -> now you can crop and edit the 'screencap'

To cap my shows i use this progam called Virtualdub, it's free and you can download it from in internet. It's made for capping and it can be used to make point by point caps so you can make mini movie icons :)

Thanks csikicksurass! I've been looking for a better capping software. :)

Btw, Adzix I currently use Windows Movie Maker. I think it comes with Windows XP.

You can also use Quicktime to make caps. I have v7 and then you can just hit Ctrl+C during a scene and then in your editing programme (PS, PSP, even paint) you can paste it and then you're done :)

Quicktime would take ages to make caps with esp. if you need to make captures of a whole show. I prefer myself imagegrab esp. for avi's and so. It makes caps automatical and is also good for getting captures to make like csi animation avatars. :)

To make captures of my dvds I use windvd alot. :)
