Bo Derek, and we've got Raquel Welch coming up... Just wondered why? Do they add anything to this show? Do more people tune in because? I know someone (David, this time) dutifully mentions 'living legends', but... Just wondered what others think. And don't start me on guest directors - well, one guest director! Don't think our venerable series needs or benefits from either. I would exclude Malcolm McDowell from these comments - great actor.

As for me it's like you said - guest-stars are for tuning more people in. Does it work? Probably yes cuz it's a usual practise for TV shows.
I think one's attitude to it depends on exact guest-star.
As for Malcolm McDowell I couldn't agree more but as for Bo Derek and Raquel Welch...
I'm not a target audience so my opinion maybe doesn't count but for me they don't add anything to this show.
I haven't known Bo Derek before so I did some digging and found that one of her the most famous film is a porno or kind of :wtf: so "living legend" sounds a bit odd for me. In addition her role is too tiny.
As for Raquel Welch I can't say in advance. It seems she has a role much more interesting that Bo has. We'll see. But I can't say that I'm thrilled because of it. I think it wouldn't be any worse if this role was played by TV actress

I thought she was most famous for the movie "10" I've never seen it but have heard of it and it was not porn at all :wtf:.I don't know much about her either so perhaps you are speaking of another film.
I do know that the slow mo scene of her riding the horse last night was similar to a scene in the movie "10" which was mentioned by David in one of the behind the scenes video.
I had no problem with her scenes last night but I doubt that lots of people tuned in specifically to see her.

I wondered the same thing while watching the episode last night. CBS touted Bo Derek's appearance like it was the event of the season and she really didn't add much at all. Hopefully Raquel has a more memorable character.

    greatfan, thanks for the link.
I found a trailer for Bolero but I'm not sure if I should post it there cuz this film is really for adults.

I think it's great to have guest stars. There was one a rumor that could not be confirmed that Andy Griffith was going to be a guest star on one on of the CSI Shows. Yes, he is in his 80's, but people who normally not watch CSI would tune in to see Andy, especially the older generations. Too bad Barney (Don Knotts) is gone!

Well it apparently served its purpose. Bo Derek was in the top 10 rated search on Yahoo yesterday.

I don't think it really does anything for the show. It's called "stunt casting." If its someone you really like, and you've never watched a particular show before, you might tune in. Or, it might make people not watch, just because of who the celebrity is. Think of Justin Bieber as an example. How many teenage girls who probably never watched CSI before tuned in to see his 2 appearances? It's just a quick way to raise the ratings, but sometimes it can backfire and bite you in the butt. Bo Derek wasn't a huge draw either. Ratings were actually down since last week. However, golf overrun and the month hiatus didn't help.

Last Sunday Night was the weakest episode this season I ever saw. Bo Derek looks like an semi old hag to me, the whole show was borning up until the end when Horatio stop that girl from killing herself, because that murder was not her fault. Did anybody notice the wrinkles in Bo Derek's neck? Make up couldn't hide it.

Raquel Welch tbh wasn't brilliant last night, she done ok but nothing special. Now it's time for Malcolm McDowell. Now don't get me wrong i think he is a fantastic actor, but i felt he overplayed his character the first time round, he tried to hard to make him funny and happy, and for me it didn't work that well.
