Did anyone else chuckle at the wording of that first text message? "Yo, some chick just croaked". Its sad that the girl died, but that wording just ... I couldn't help but giggle.
D+ All I can say is Thank God For Jo Danville™. Tonight's episode was just another in a long list of rich people meeting their demise. There are poor people, too! (I should probably never move to NY. ~Poor people like me don't get the luxury of an investigation when we die. ) I feel like this storyline has been rehashed and rehashed and just past the point of beating a dead horse. Just when I thought we were doing OK on the tolerating Lindsay front, TPTB throw a curve ball at us and hit us with more Danny/Lindsay dreck. Enough! I did not care about Lindsay's backstory before and I still don't give a rat's patootie. Let it go, please. I did like Jo's comment to Adam about the girl going to Mars. :lol: And the tidbit about Jo being a cheerleader was cool -- Sela Ward happened to be one as well. Overall, a clunker of an episode. Not a very memorable one at all.
I didn't really like this one too much. It is another one, like the 'Stoned Cold' Miami where the nerds get revenge. I don't know, it was too "played" with the brunette girl killing the blonde chick. We see this everyday in life when every dope falls for some manipulative blonde. And I am getting tired of the rich kid shows as well. I went to a private elementary school for a few years and it was hell. Then went to a private university, but it was only because I lived in town and it didn't cost too damn much. i think in some ways they paint private schools poorly, but then again there are plenty of entitled a-holes at my old school. As for the victim, I didn't really care too much about her. However even with jealousy being the major factor, the killing seemed a little far fetched. Other thoughts: -Adam's antics were too much this week and acting so "afraid" of Mac is getting really old! Dude you are a professional, a goofy one, but still calm down and do your frigging job! -Flack's hair was haywire yet again. Stylists you are doing him wrong! -Mac looked good, but seemed like he wasn't on as much in this episode. -Jo's hair looked better and less dry. So good for them for fixing it for her. -The water bottle cheating thing was pretty cool I must admit. Teachers would be clueless to check people's bottles. I wonder if people will try that after this show?
Gave it a C, because it just...was. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it was just...eh. I saw the correct 'villain' early on, which isn't good, imo, and it just overall felt like a filler episode that goes after the good "sweeps" episodes. Still, it wasn't bad per se. I liked: Jo's cheerleading past (though it is another instance of CSI:NY using the actor's past to color the character's past), Adam's nerves around Mac (nice consistency, especially since he wasn't nervous once he had the answer to it) and that there wasn't anything super-duper-unusual going on -- despite the setting it felt like it could have been at almost any school (which, uh, why wasn't it? Why not kids on scholarships terrified of losing their grades or something?) Disliked: the "Dewey Decimal" exchange between Lindsay and Danny (partly due to a point of order -- that book's call number looked LoC not Dewey) because I've never quite figured out if the show is hinting that Danny isn't very clever or that he just isn't very well educated (I learned Dewey Decimal in elementary school) but it just seems odd for a guy in that career path. That it just felt 'blah'. There was nothing to really mark this episode out, and it felt like one of those episodes I won't remember in a couple weeks. There was nothing in it that was special. All that fal-de-rah about the setting and it could've been any school. Not that every episode can be a super-special episode, but something to mark it out would be nice.
Folderol, dammit. This episode was a borefest. Do the writers really think the majority of viewers give two shits about upper-crust, privileged wankwaffles and are just hanging out for a glimpse into their lifestyle? Everyone involved, including thew victim, was an asswipe, and while Olivia Prescott certainly didn't deserve to die, I wasn't terribly sorry she was dead. I felt a modicum of pity for Emma, who threw her life away in a moment of rage in defense of a friend who was too busy lusting after the unattainable to notice her faithful adoration. She deserves to go to jail for what she did, but I understand how wretched it feels to spend your life doing the right things the right way, only to get stepped on by the beautiful people, who often have no regard or simple human empathy for anyone but themselves. Danny and Lindsay's scene in the library was hardly "pornographic", as Anna Belknap breathlessly claimed earlier in the week; in fact the pool-table fumblefest that kicked off the DL drama llama herd was more lurid. It looked incredibly awkward and uncomfortable, and Lindsay looked like she was doing her pained, constipated best to hold in a volcanic fart as Danny leaned over her like a pensioner whose back had gone out. And fuck Lindsay and her smug sense of superiority. Danny isn't a dolt because he was educated in a public school. Danny is a dolt because the writers have a boner for writing him as a cocky, street-smart Bowery boy made good. Places like Ashford don't make you smart or driven or successful; they simply afford you more resources and opportunities to achieve that success. And breed entitled asshats. A stupid episode that even managed to make Jo overweening in the final confrontation with Emma. F

Wow! Can't even believe that I was watching the same episode as the rest of you. I found it pretty entertaining even if (as usual) I enjoyed the character moments with the team more than the mystery. Granted, there isn't much characterization to go around on a procedural show...but there were a few things that stood out to me: Lindsay's flashback to the shooting in her past seemed appropriate given the setting and didn't feel forced at all to me. Props to TPTB for remembering and including it. I almost feel like they could be (along with her justified kill of Shane Casey and the guilt over the recent rape victim she felt she let down) building to a realization that the violence of her job really affects her more than she lets on. If she fears for Lucy's safety because she knows first-hand how violent the world is, at least she now has another mom (Jo) to talk to about it on the job. As much as I enjoyed her big sister/little sister dynamic with Stella, Jo and Lindsay's budding friendship has a more equal base because of that. Her moment with Danny in the library was cute and the kind of discussion parents would have in that situation. On a tangent, I'd rather have character moments like these (which some of you dread as mallets) than a group of cyphers I don't know or care about randomly spouting facts. I think that's partly why there is so much hate for Lindsay and Dr. Hawkes...instead of characters with lives outside the lab (or discernible personalities like Adam, Flack, Jo, and Danny), they're mainly used only to deliver exposition and try to sound clever (even if they're not). The one thing I thought you guys would pick up on is the ending sermon by Mac and Jo about "the world these kids live in". While it's true, it just seemed like tacked-on commentary to me. I'd have much rather had their talk end when Jo mentioned "the things we choose to overlook" (drawing a slightly more subtle comparison between the killer and the boy who saw her only as a friend and Mac and Jo's own working/possibly personal relationship). I guess, to sum up, the cases may fade and often (but not this time) seem implausible with all the crazy twists, but it's the characters that keep me watching week after week.
At least they didn't go overboard with the D/L...I like it, but I know many don't. It was only like two scenes in the beginning. I do agree there should be less rich people cases, but I enjoyed the ep overall. Not a standout, but not terrible. I'll go with maybe a b-.
I liked this episode a lot. I'm into school/college themed episodes and I've waited to get this kind of episode for sometime. I actually liked the plot more than I thought and the story kept me interested and I didn't get bored. My favourite parts were Jo's mentioning her cheerleader and guys' expression to that especially Mac's made me smile and laugh! Second: ADAM! Gosh I love him. Even though he's "still" nervous around Mac it's okay for me cause I'm that kind of person that if I'm nervous around some person I won't get rid of it even the time goes. :lol: So I kind of symphatize Adam. Not to mention I love Mac, Adam scenes! Adam getting into Mac's computer was cute and smart scene I'd have liked it even more if Mac would have seen that! :lol::lol: Mentioning all the history stuff was cool cause I study it! :bolian: Danny and Lindsay. I like them as a couple and they don't bother usually. The scene in a library made me actually grin. :lol: DL is good when they don't "overdo" their relatioship and mentioning Lucy was was sweet little thing. I give an A+

F because I could barely keep my eyes open and was close to fall asleep *Yawn* After I watched the CSI: NY Under the Microscope Video blog about how an episode is written, I wasn't surprised why most of the screen plays lack professionalism and originality. Each episode is a team effort but if you have young and inexperienced 'writers' on board then nothing good can come from it. Okay, back to the episode "Do or Die." Loved the Adam as well as Sid moments. They never fail to entertain me and put a smile on my face. Carmine and Eddie always rock for me, so no further comment necessary. I just adore both of them From a creative point of view, the D/L scene in the library was a disaster. Aside from the major lack of chemistry between D/L, the 'table' scene was everything but convincing. When Danny moved closer towards Lindsay, she leaned even further backwards than necessary. Naturally if you are in a relationship with someone, you'd pull your partner closer, flirt a little no matter if you are at work or not, so I ask myself why the director didn't interfere. They zoomed in on their hands indicating their moment of 'closeness' but that image got immediately destroyed when you watched Lindsay's uncomfortable approach to imitate the event. I also couldn't follow the flashback moment of Lindsay and when her friends were killed. I didn't understand the connection between her personal drama and the girl that was killed at school. These were two very different scenarios that couldn't be compared with one another. For the first time I had the feeling that most of the main cast had a LOT of lines and that they took many convenient shortcuts in explaining certain happenings rather than showing them. Very confusing and irritating. The chosen filming locations and set designs were as beautiful as always. Big kudos to the crew who is always so committed to their jobs and gives 150% every time. No comment on the catastrophic written screen play.
I think I gave it an A. I cant really remember as I just read people's comments. Any ways: I loved the Adam moments; when he talked to Jo about the soil and saw Mac comig so went the other way, and when he hacked Mac's computer. Sam222, I couldn't agree more. It would've been great if Mac had seen. Does no one elses schools check their water bottles in exams? In my school we cant have bottles with lables on and until now I never knew why. I thought it would've been pretty obvious if someone wrote on the inside or something but that was subtle. I loved the Jo moments. I'm liking her more and more which is annoying because it's making me like Stella less and less and I loved Stella. Her comment about cheerleading and Mac's face was priceless. The D/L moments weren't too bad, but they were slightly painful, which for me is unusual because I quite like them together. I think the plot was OK. I agree with the whole rich people thign being a bit over done and speaking as a nerd I dont think think we're getting the best reputation. Oh I remember. I gave it an A. Looking forward to next ep.
While the scenarios were different, Lindsay was about the same age as these school kids when her friends were shot. She commented to Mac that this kind of trauma would stay with them the rest of their lives (as hers has with her)...especially if this vic had friends on campus. Slightly off-topic, seeing Jones from Life Unexpected as the amateur pornographer in this ep was fun. Thought it was him as I watched the ep and confirmed it later on imdb.com.
