I enjoyed last nights episode. I thought that Jorja did a great job in handling Betty and Julia. Nick, bless his heart...:adore: Love the sibling rivalry but right after the explosion, you could see the worry and concern he had for his team. Of course, over the next few weeks, I have a feeling that Nick will have enough explosions to last a life time.

Good to see Grissom again. It would be nice to see him in person instead of on a computer screen.

First of all, I loved when Nick ran in worried about Ray and Sara. His eyes looked like they were gonna pop out of his head he was so worried.

I didn't even think about the fact that sign language is different in other countries.

Loved Nick telling Ray he's losing his super powers Lol.

Hodges' foot in mouth moment hahaha.

Cath saying Sara just described Grissom "Like mother like son" heh.

Loved Cath sticking up for Sara with Brass, that was really nice to see and hear. And when Sara said her and Grissom have great sex and Cath went "I'm sure you do". hehe.

I cracked up when Sara goes "your mother is talking about our sex life" lol. And Grissom telling that story about in some tribes elders pass on their sex knowledge to the younger generation. And then "sex pots" LMAO!

I like that Julia and Sara kind of made up and Betty and Sara made up as well. And Betty gave Sara that plant. :) The mention of Sara liking vegetation reminded me of when Grissom sent her some plant to apologize for something.

Super Dave's scene with Ray in the beginning and him mentioning Ray's tie. Ray called him "D". Did anyone else notice that?

    Grissom's in Peru now.

Pretty decent episode, much better than I was expecting given the description.

It's Québécois (or Quebecer, apparently). Maybe it's just me, but it seems like all the 'bad Canadians' on American TV shows are from Quebec. :wtf:

I thought that too, but maybe they were trying to keep him distanced still, so we wouldn't get too excited he was 'back' and expect to see him again.

At least we know Grissom considers LV his home as he travels about consulting or lecturing; which is probably what most specialists do who have a fairly unique expertise. It's realistic, and probably more lucrative. I think if he were doing research, which is what many of us thought, he would be more tied down in one location, and probably somewhere other than LV. I also think the writers are purposely keeping him at a distance so we don't expect to see him often. This way we assume he comes home between jobs, and it makes their arrangement more believable. Clearly, they are content with their marriage and each other.
I can't get over the whole 'your mother is talking about our sex life'. Jorja played that scene perfectly. And, Hodges was even getting in on the discussion earlier. Grissom and Sara have come such a long way; from not wanting anyone to know they were involved, to now talkiing about their sex life. In the past, I think Sara or Grissom would have snarled at Hodges and rebuffed him; in this epi, Sara was a little embarrassed but she laughed it off. I think that was the whole idea behind all that, besides giving Hodges something comedic to do.
Anyone else impressed with the opening? I had no idea what to expect at a celebration in a deaf community. I was curious if they would have music, and I wasn't sure if we would hear any conversation. I loved the drums, and the views of everyone 'conversing' in sign language. Nicely, done.

Ah, thank you. Québécois. I like the sound of it. And I felt a little guilty using Quebec as my example. It does seem to us Americans that Quebec is Canada's Mordor.

I noticed you didn't correct me though on the belief that evil Canadians are only a myth. I guess I was right, they are mythological creatures.

Ok, I hate GSR, everyone knows that :D However, I really enjoyed this episode.

It has so many great moments and it did feel like old CSI.

I'm with everyone, I really miss Grissom. :( Though I have been missing him. It's been hard to see the old epis on USA and Spike :(

Nick was great, as usual :D

"She really seems to like me, though" Loved the look Sara gave him. If looks could kill, Nicky my boy, you'd be a goner.

Brass  "Well, this is awkward" :guffaw: and the guy signs it. :guffaw:

Ok, I'll admit it, Jorja was good in this episode.

    Loved Grissom's mother.

Catherine was great. "Like mother, like son" I love Catherine's laugh, it is so infectious. And her hiding behind her coffee mug when Hodges mentioned Lady Heather. :guffaw:

I could have done with knowing about Grissom and Sara's sex life. There's just no romantic chemistry there. However, Sara reacting to her mother-in-law talking about their sex life was funny. How mortifying. :guffaw:

Loved Nick's reaction when he was worried about Sara and Langston. After his experience you can see why. But yeah, let's not give Emmy's to actors from procedural dramas. :wtf:

Overall a real good episode and I wasn't expecting that.

    Indeed. :D

Reminds me of a line from White Collar:
    "How upset were the Canadians?"
"Oh, very. Well, as upset as Canadians can get."

I didn't really notice the interpreters most of the episode, but that, and then when Mrs. Grissom was talking to Sara about her marriage, the interpreter looked like he was thinking "awkward" too.

I liked the end, Grissom "good, you kept busy."

::grin:: Evil Canadian is an oxymoron!

I think the 'bad Canadians' being from Quebec might be an extension of the whole um, Freedom Fries fiasco? I mean, really, anyone who knows anything about Canada knows that the Canada's Mordor is the Dirty 'Shwa... or is that just for us Ontario folks?

I just finished watching the episode (bought it on ITunes) and am floating on cloud nine. All my questions concerning Grisson and Sara were answered and actually exceeded my expectations! Sara and Grissom see each other at least one a month, they talk daily, they love each other and Grissom is a happy and content man:luvlove:

I have to admit I really liked Sara throughout this episode and that is probably the biggest surprise of all. I have constantly struggled to like her for more than the odd few times throughout the last ten years. I have always found her to be just a bit too snarky, a bit too judgemental, a bit too whiny etc. etc. Strangely enough I always loved Grissom and Sara as a couple but I think that has more to do with the fact that I loved the idea of a happy and in love Grissom. And if Sara was the one to make him so, then that was more than ok with me.

Sara is probably the character who has changed the most between year 1 and year 11. I was pleasantly surprised how calm and restrained she managed to stay despite all the provocative comments aimed at her starting with Betty, through Julia through to Nick and Hodges (Hodges was pure gold, probably my fave scene other than the final scene:lol:). The old Sara would have blown up and would not have kept her calm the way she did here. The old Sara would not have been able to show compassion the way she did to Julia. I thought that scene was lovely. And has Sara ever said sorry to anybody prior to last night!? The end scene with Grissom, Sara and Betty was beyond sweet. I love playful, relaxed Grissom. Loved the I love yous between the three. I think WP and JF did a wonderful job of portraying the deep love between Grissom and Sara in that final scene. I also thought Grissom appearing via skype rather than in person worked perfectly.

Quick last comment on Marlee Matlin and Phylis Frelich, they were simply amazing. I thought Phylis was perfectly cast as Grissom's mum. What a terrific character. The woman has serious balls:lol:

Like it a lot. The best part for me is of course the webcam scene. I hope Grissom will return again before the season ends. He said he'll eat dinner with Sara and Mrs. Grissom SOON! I hope that is some kind of a hint. :D

Argh, I didn't want to like this episode. It seemed so stupid and out-there based on the spoilers. But it was a pretty decent episode. Very light on the personal drama Sara was going through. Jorja can sure bring it. Sara's character has changed a lot over the years, I've actually enjoyed her now more than earlier ones.

Cath's laugh was great. LOVED how she hid her face behind the coffee cup when Hodges was talking. And for the record, I'm pretty sure Grissom didn't sleep with Lady Heather (that's for a different thread) but it was fun none the less to watch.

Julias face was heartbreaking to see when she said she was lonely and sometimes lonely people overlook other's imperfections just to keep from being lonely. A sad commentary if I do say so.

And the bombing wasn't as overdramatic as the one at Officer Clarks's funeral. It seemed very realistic actually.

What got me is how can someone that is hearing blend so well into the deaf community? Must have been really hard for him. The translator I get, but the student?
One of those questions I'll figure out after I watch it again.

Grissom's appearance at the end made me smile. I loved the "HI MOM". You could hear Billy's Chicago accent. Warmed my heart. :adore: :luvlove: But who knew Grissom and Sara were so open about their marriage to discuss their sex life in front of his mother.

Oh and Cath's face when Sara said that her and Gil's sex life was just fine also had me laughing. Love the writers for that line. ;-0

Overall I liked it more than I thought it would. Jorja can bring it and the writers are giving Sara really good stuff to work with.

I agree, ladyhunter, these writers have been writing better for the females this season, both Sara and Catherine.

Here's an article about WP's filming of his scene. Yes, it was done on the set in LA, and Jorja asked him to do it :):

I think based on the fact that Leblanc's mother was also deaf, might have made it easier for him to blend in. He grew up with it, so he probably learned to mimic it like children learn by mimicking their elders.

And I'm with you on the Lady Heather thing (my husband and I have actually debated this a couple times).

I think the sad commentary is more the fact Julia thought it was just loneliness that allowed her to look past imperfections. Isn't that what love is supposed to be about? Maybe I'm just naive though...

Smart girl. She really needed that scene to give her marriage credibility. I do so hope we see a little more of Grissom in the near future and don't have to wait 2 years for it to happen again.
