Most cable shows have short seasons. (Like Dexter, Leverage, The Closer, Mad Men)
I guess it's cheaper, and it allows the actors to do other things. I think that's how they are able to attract some big names to their shows.

Some shows also use the ten episodes to gauge how it will do as well. Say they get to ep five and say this is a hit, lets order more, then no problem. Some shows (like 'Numbers' for example) order a full season, but then decrease it based on the (pardon the pun) numbers they get from ratings. Sort of your better safe then ticking off fans by decreasing the amount if it doesn't work out.

But then again TNT is known for half and half shows, another example "The closer", if they order say 20 eps, ten will air in one half, then a layoff and then the next ten. Sometimes with them, they may or may not order the full season but rather half a season.

I am generalizing because until they come out and say why they ordered only that many eps (10) not much can be done (unless you go to the TNT website and contact them letting them know your support for the show) until then. ;)

Yes, they have it on Amazon. :)

I'm excited for tomorrow, although I'll DVR it and probably watch on the weekend. But the Southland Facebook page put up 5 pages of the script for tomorrow's episode. Looks good! :)

Great episode last night. I'm so glad it's back.
I luv, luv, luv Regina King. Her irritation with her new partner was hilarious. This will be a great pairing.
Ben MacKenzie was cute as always; Cooper needed a hug; and Sammy and Nate are my favorite detective duo.

    Welcome back, Southland!

Ahhhh...finally got to see the premiere! :) Great, as always. I wasn't sure if Sammy's wife would still be on since the actress is also on Desperate Housewives right now, but there she was. Despite the several drops of some curse words and some bleeped out ones tho, it did seem a bit tamer than previous seasons. I hope it heats up a bit later!

The show is still top notch after seeing the second episode for this season! :)

Dewey. Loved how John just tolerated him the whole time and then dumped him off on Chickie!

Poor Sammy. Doesn't he know he'll be better off without that weirdo wife of his?? Let her go, I say, and good riddance!

And poor Ben too. I got the feeling he thought he was something special to that Sally lady, and then he heard all of those crazy stories from the other guys. But um...you could kind of tell from looking at her tho that she'd been rode hard and put away wet!

Can I give Ben McKenzie an Emmy right now for his performance last night? And one to Shawn Hatosy and Regina King too?

I love this show so much. Thank you TNT for giving it a home.

Excellent episode this week! I think it just gets better and better!

Anyone else think Russ might be headed toward suicide? :(

Yeah. It doesn't look good for him. And, I'm worried about Sammy, too. He's on the edge of losing it.

Next week's preview looked awesome. Can't wait!
