I really don't think Gary's politics have anything much to do with the show, beyond coming through occasionally with Mac, anymore than Hill's politics do. Also, Gary and Hill are friends despite their difference in political views, they have agreed to disagree. I'm sure Gary has friends who have more liberal views than he does. I mean, most people are friends with people despite their views. I have friends who have views who are more liberal and more conservative than my own.

 

^ exactly - my best friend is pretty conservative and i'm very socialist/liberal, but most of the time it just doesn't come up. and when it does, i educate her seriously tho, i have the politics degree and she knows very little about politics so it does happen...

Maybe you could 'educate' Gary on politics too. Though I imagine you'd want to do more with him than talk politics if you had him alone.:devil: I've never really thought Gary's political views were a major player in his career - he played Truman, and Truman was a Democrat, wasn't he?
I didn't even know (or care) what Gary's political views were till quite recently, or Hill Harper's, I only know because it was mentioned that they both contributed to the different presidential candidates' campaigns back in '08 - and I don't care now really. If I ever met either of them, I'd be too busy drooling and being all fannish and squealy to discuss politics. Especially if I met Gary!:drool:

yeah, truman was democrat. it always kind of fascinates me that he played 2 contemporary political figures but who were pretty much polar opposites (the other being george wallace - as far as i know (and i might be wrong, US politics isn't really my area) his and truman's paths crossed at least once) - i think that's pretty cool really.

i believe he donated to McCain's presidential campaign (as opposed to his oven chips campaign :lol, and Hill to Obama's but yeah, it's nore really relevant to their jobs is it? and unless someone in the public eye is a rabid racist/supremacist/whatever and/or their politics affect their work, it's really no big deal and shouldn't have an effect on perceptions of them.
