I am not a bug girl. When the forensic entomologists came to class to lecture and we got to collect maggots, it was pretty gross. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Callophoridae and Sarcophagidae. I know that Callophoridae(blow fly) aren't it.

Nope - y'all are disappointing me.

I'll post the answer in the morning if no one gets it by then and the next question can randomly go to whoever wants to post the next one...

    Skin/Hide Beetles - Family Dermestidae.

Hide beetles are the only beetle with the necessary enzymes for breaking down keratin but I'm not sure if they are the "only" insect that has this unique capability.

    Cheers. :)

In 1248, a book was published which described how to distinguish drowning from strangulation. This book was the first recorded application of medical knowledge to the solution of crime. What is the title of this book?

Bingo! I've always loved the title of that book. A beautifully Chinese mannerism, the bestowing of this sort of title/name.

    Your turn. :)

Forensic medicine is the 'application of medical knowledge to legal questions.' Who was the first person to practice modern forensic medicine, and in which centuary did it become a recognized branch of medicine?

Fortunatus Fidelis first practiced modern forensic medicine. It became a recognized branch of medicine in the early 19th century.
