That will be really cool to see Marg back. The 300th episode sounds really interesting, if only because it draws back to the original seasons. As much as I'd like to see WP back, he's said a million times how he's done with the show, and sees no point in doing guest appearances.

I'm excited about a few aspects of this season, but doubt ill be watching much sadly..

I'm hoping Gavin Harris isn't going for his usual sacrificing sense for ridiculous and gimmicky "bet you never guessed that" twists. As if we hadn't rolled our eyes enough at tiny women exhibiting super strength on a poker rampage, brain swapping conspiracies and meth making spiritual gurus.

Yeah, please don't muck this one up!

If WP is going to come back, I can't see there being an announcement. I'm pretty sure he's said in the past he's not willing to return for the sake of giving the show a ratings boost. They could very well use him in flashbacks/archive footage though am I correct?

    You forgot a few details:

Hodges: no clue about women, fights then falls for Wendy who returns his feelings, loses her, starts awkward relationship with Morgan, finds hot Italian belle, engagement turns into fraud

Catherine: divorced, cheated on, one daughter, dates several men including night club owner, flirts with Warrick until he goes steady, now with FBI agent

Ecklie: married and divorced four times, one daughter

Brass: married, cheated, divorced, had affair with a later suspect, one daughter

Yes, I admit. I've followed this series since day one. I have no other life, whatsoever. And I loved the Lab Rats episodes; wish they would bring those back. Just because the writers forgot about them, doesn't mean we should.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation 14.05 "Frame by Frame"

    Director: Alec Smight
    Writer: Gavin Harris
    Story By: Elizabeth Devine

STORY LINE: When a young woman is found dead in reclusive mogul Mr. Witten's mansion, the team thinks it's a repeat of a decade-old murder, also involving Witten. But the twists and turns of the case take them in surprising directions they had never anticipated...

    Mr. Witten
An ex-drug addict, still handsome and charming, although years of battling his addictions have taken their toll. Now a reclusive, casino mogul who once threw the most lavish parties in Las Vegas until he was accused of murder.. The millionaire son of a famous Hollywood mogul whose own dream of building a Vegas casino never came to pass. He was a suspect in a murder over a decade ago, and now, there's another young dead girl in his home. Under questioning, Witten seems arrogant and smugly confident that he is above the law. Upon deeper digging, however, it may come to light that Witten is the victim of a long-ago plot that has burdened him with crushing guilt for all these years.

Is this a newly created 'old case'? My memory isn't the best but I don't recall a case that fits this description.

I am curious if the writers have remembered that Greg was not a CSI 14 years ago but a lab rat or if they will again rewrite show history.

Does anyone know if they are aiming for a serious tone with this episode or a more comedic one?

If the episode is serious in nature then all the 'faux back' scenes will open them up to potential ridicule, however, if the episode is more light hearted then it might be quite amusing. I am just remembering some of the garish clothes and make up that both Cath and Sara wore in the early days.

Ookay, so now they decided to tie up some lose ends..this sounded promising until I got to the 'long-ago plot'. Why does it have to be so overly dramatized and complex? How much we wanna bet it's one of these "my girl/boyfriend/relative/whatever overdosed at one of your drug parties, and this is my revenge" kinda stories?
Keeps me wondering, if they're starting to dig up old cases, which one's going to be next? One that pops into mind is the 'Blue Paint Killer' from seasons 3&5. Then again, I cringe at the thought of what they might do with it...

Somewhere along the line the plots have become so outlandish, so forced. Yes, there is a lot more action and suspense, but sometimes it's getting way out of hand.
What bugs me most that in the past three or four seasons, the CSIs enter a crime scene/suspects house first, even though the police is at hand.

That is one serious breach of protocol, especially considering how much they used to emphasize that point throughout the series. Yes, they get self-defense and target practice, but they're still CSIs. Warrick, Sara, Nick.. each got an earful from Grissom about that particular line of procedure.

So, where do we go from here? Are they going to remember that CSI is mostly about solving everyday crimes or will they keep spinning the murder-arson-serial killer wheel for another year? Also, all these grudges and attacks gainst the CSIs have become somewhat repetitive and again, forced.
There are some folks where it works great; Ecklie, for example, is the undersheriff(I'm surprised nobody takes pot shots at him when he's grocery shopping) and loves being in the spotlight.
Brass, who is on the force and has been more than once publicly acclaimed a hero, sure.
But Doc Robbins? Are you serious? Who's next, Bobby Dawson? It's just too far-fetched to be even remotely credible, never mind how well written and executed it may be.

    Anyway, that's just me.

    Re-created flashbacks? "Faux-backs"? :wtf:

The problem with this narrative element is that it looks stupid. Period. After 14 years it's frigging hard to make them look like mid-twenties again, they'll all look closer to 40 than 25.
They said it was a "fictional cold case", so I guess it's a new storyline rather than a real unsolved crime from a previous episode. What a shame. I was hoping they would use real archive material. I was hoping they would go back to the roots. *humph :angryrazz:

Oh, and I'll bet they will re-write show history since they don't seem to take a look at what was scripted and written 10 years ago. They don't do their homework properly  But I'm excited about Marg's return to CSI. I'm curious what Catherine's been up to in the meantime.

Let's not forget that the lab looked entirely different back then, too. The current rendition is more of a Season 4/5 era thing.

Oh yeah, I remeber..when the lab actually still looked like a lab and not a walk-through human-sized terrarium. Dull, sand-brown walls, squeaky chairs, chipped off tables...very realistic.

And please, please, please would they stop with the friggin' Marvel syndrome of not doing their homework and just re-writing history only because they're too flippin' lazy to check it up? It's not as if they have to go through the god-forsaken script archives; that's what we fans are there for. Post it in the thread, you're most like to get an astute answer and if not, a decent link.

Given, if it's only fictional, I hope it's on the comedic side; sort of 'You kill me'. Because if they're going for seriousness, it will crash.
...does that mean, they're going to get Warrick back, too? And please don't let Hodges on the scene; he wasn't even in Vegas at the time.*groan* Why do I have this foreboding that they'll screw this one up?

What about Doc Robbins? I didn't see him mentioned earlier and am confused.

They do need to remember that this show isn't like the spinoffs. I think sometimes having detectives for characters is easier even if we know real life is often different.

I was just wondering about him as well! I mean, in the episode 'Fallen Angels' they didn't even show his picture!

Dourdan was fired, he did not leave in good terms..

'Fallen Angels' is the proof that Dourdan is not going to return.

oooh 14x05 episode sounds interesting, a 300th milestone with return of marg helenberger in it. I was hoping for WP to come back as well. its big milestone to celebrate where csi started it all 14 years ago.

Anyway I recall we supposedly to see some season 14 csi promos by now? we usually get it at this week and next week at end of august every year, but no promos as of yet.
