    SPOILERS

Please keep these guidelines in mind when posting spoilers:

    1. Please do not name sources if they're not major magazines (TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly, etc.) or well-known web columns like Ask Ausiello or Kristin at E! Online. Keep in mind that naming sources aside from these makes it likely that those sources will dry up.

    2. Please do not link to any site illegally posting copyrighted material.

    3. Please use good judgement when posting spoilers. A basic overview of the episode, interesting character moments and which characters are involved in the cases are the main points of interest. Giving away the ending of an episode or revealing who the killer is (for example) goes beyond "spoiling" interesting moments - it can ruin the episode.

You may also be interested in visiting the Spoiler Lab where details regarding new episodes may be posted and discussed.

That said, please can we try to keep information about new episodes contained within the designated episode spoiler threads. These threads are easily identifiable to old and new members alike, and look like this (for example):

Not only does this make it easier for everyone to find the info and add a post if they wish, these threads are clearly marked with a 'Spoiler' warning. If there are people who don't wish to find out what happens before they've seen the episode, they can easily avoid entering such threads.

Of course you are more than welcome to start other threads concerning aspects of an episode, but please remember to post a spoiler warning in the thread title, as a courtesy to others.

Please also remember to use the 'Spoiler Code' or 'Spoiler Space' in threads that do not have a spoiler warning in their title, if you are posting details of what is yet to happen on the show.

If you're looking to quickly post a spoiler and you don't want to write out the entire code, click the little muzzled smiley [IMG] in the edit/reply prompt (depending on which one of the two you're using). It'll say "Wrap
tags around selected text." So in effect, it'll end up looking like your run of the mill, average joe vBulletin spoiler box. ;)

To post a spoiler by hand, simply use the following code:

    [noparse]
Their names are Finch and FieldMouse
    [/noparse]

    It will look like this:

Their names are Finch and FieldMouse

Just to be clear, the codes for just about anything from placing things in bold, to adding spoilers are smiliar if not the same as UBB, so don't panic. ;) We'll get into some of that further down.

    SPAMMING

Just a reminder of the Board Rules relating to spamming:

Also, please try to avoid posting very short responses. eg. "lol", "hmhm" etc. Such posts do not contribute to discussion and are seen mainly as a means to boost your post count. Always try to elaborate on a point of view, unless of course you are responding to something that only requires a brief answer.

    DOUBLE POSTING

While double posting (making back-to-back posts with nobody replying in between) is sometimes unintentional, it can be considered spamming. If you want to alter a post, please use the 'Edit' function rather than submitting a new post. The current editing time allowance is approximately 24 hours from when your post was entered. After this time, you will no longer be able to edit your post.

    CHATTING

Here are a few additional guidelines from our Board Admin TBonz:

    AVATARS AND BANNERS

Some of the most frequently asked questions involve Avatars and Signature Banners. Here are some of the basics.

Avatars- *New rule* You will now only have to be here for two weeks and have 50 posts in order to have an avatar AND the ability to use the PM system.

Please keep in mind that the maximum size allowed for avatars is 140x 140px.

Signatures and Banners-You may have either text or a banner in your sig, but you cannot have both. If you choose to have a banner, please keep in mind that the maximum size allowed is 220x75 px. That is this big:

    IMAGES AND PICTURES

To post a picture as an image, you must first have 100 posts, until that time you’ll have to post them as links using the URL code located in the TalkCSI vB Code List which will explain how to use all the codes you were familiar with on UBB and some that are new from vBulletin.

To post an image, use the following code:

    [noparse][IMG][/noparse]

Your image will look like this:

To post your image as a link, use the following code:

    [noparse]UGO Logo[/noparse]

Your link will look like this:

    UGO Logo

The maximum size requirements for posting images varies from forum to forum. Here in the Miami Forum, we’ve decided that approx 480 px is the maximum width allowable for this forum. That is this wide.:

We feel that this size is not too big as to stretch the screen for those members with lower screen resolutions, and yet still be compatible with most screen caps. You’re allowed a couple pixels leeway. If images are posted that are wider that 480px, one of the mods will edit them to links.

Images will also be edited to links if they appear more than once per page. An example would be quoting a post that contains an image.

Also, if you are going to post an image, please make sure it is uploaded to your own image hosting account (Photobucket, or similar sites), and not ‘hotlinked’ from another site.

We ask that you post no more than 2 pictures (480 pixels in length) and the rest as links. We ask this for the benefit of those with slower connections (dial-up). Page loading can take a long time when there are lots of images displayed on a page.

If posting pics as thumbnails, please post no more than 6 at one time, if you have more than 6, the rest should be posted as links.

    DISCUSSION OF DOWNLOADING

Unless legal sites such as 'Itunes', 'Amazon.com', Walmart.com' etc are mentioned where episodes/songs may be purchased, the discussion of downloading will not be permitted. Here's a snippet from the Board Rules:

"We cannot legally or morally condone tape-trading in episodes or downloading episodes online, and do not allow discussions on this matter. Any other copyright violations will also not be allowed."

Linking to sites such as 'CBS Innertube', 'ctv.ca', 'YouTube' etc are permitted as the content provided are free-streaming and/or moderated by the sites' owners. We reserve the right to edit and remove any inappropriate content (over PG-13) linked to, on this BB.

    THREAD CAP
Talk CSI has a thread cap of 1000. This means that when a thread reaches 1000 posts it will be locked by a moderator, and a new thread will be started in its place. A link to the old thread will be provided in the new thread.

    HAVING MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT:

It is against Board Rules to have more than one account. Please read this post in the Announcements Forum for more information.

    SHIPPER DISCUSSION

Unless discussion of a particular pairing is relevant to a Miami episode, all discussion of ‘ships’ belongs in the appropriate threads in the Shipper Central forum.

MAY I START A NEW THREAD?

**New** Believe it or not, this is one of the most common questions regarding the Miami Forum. The answer is: Yes. Anyone may start a new thread. You don't need the Moderators' permission. ;) Of course, if you feel the content may be questionable, feel free to send us a PM and we'll be happy to look it over but aside from that, don't be afraid to get out there and start a new topic--you never know, it may turn out to be a worthwhile discussion. :)

And most importantly, please be respectful of each other. It would be a pretty boring place if we all agreed all the time, and differences of opinion can make for interesting discussion. That being said, please bear in mind that everyones' opinions are to be respected.

In closing both FieldMouse and I hope that everyone finds the Miami forum an enjoyable and fun place to spend time. If there is ever anything we can help you with, please don’t hesitate to send either of us a PM (personal message), and we will do our very best to help you out.

Have Fun and Happy Posting! :D

Re: CSI:Miami Forum Info & Help Thread

Just wanted to let y'all know that I've edited the broken links with the new vBulletin links as we've transfered over.

I've also added some information regarding image & spoiler posting. Further edits may be implemented should the need arise. Again, please don't hesitate to send your friendly forum Mods a PM with any questions or concerns. Thanks. :)

    Attention!

You will now only have to be here for two weeks and have 50 posts in order to have an avatar as well as the ability to use the PM system.

I've added this information above in the guidelines.

Any questions can be PMed to your Miami Mods. :)

Re: CSI:Miami Forum Info & Help Thread --Updated June 05/08

I've noticed a lot of folks concerned with keeping things civil in this forum (which is a great thing to see :D) as to make this place as fun and comfortable as possible for everyone. But sometimes, it's not always easy to maintain one's cool, especially in the face of some controversial topics.

For those who are interested, and/or are unsure of how to carry out a civil discussion without ruffling everyone's collective feathers, feel free to check out the Mannerly Art of Disagreement.

I've found this to be a great resource for those wanting to contribute to hot-button/popular topics and a good tool to refer to for even the most mundane discussions. :) Hopefully the information in the link will be beneficial to some, if not all interested parties.
