Forensic science meets science fiction.
Bradley Thompson and David Weddle joined the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation team as supervising producers last summer. The writing duo has penned two episodes so far this season: "The Grave Shift" and "Kill Me If You Can". Coming up later this season, the science fiction writers will get back to their roots with an episode tentatively titled "A Space Oddity".
The episode, set to air April 16, finds the team investigating a murder that takes place at a sci-fi convention. As CSI Files previously reported, the victim will be a science fiction icon (or one created for CSI, at least). Weddle and Thompson wrote "A Space Oddity" with executive producer Naren Shankar, and the episode will be directed by Michael Nankin. Nankin has helmed numerous episodes of Battlestar Galactica, which is the series Thompson and Weddle worked for before joining the CSI staff.
The director won't be the only connection to the writing duo's sci-fi background. Actress Kate Vernon, who plays Ellen Tigh on Battlestar, will be in the episode, and Battlestar's executive producer Ron Moore is scheduled to stop by as well. In addition to those appearances, Weddle told the Chicago Tribune that there would be "other surprise cameos for sci-fi fans."
The original article is from the Chicago Tribune. Thanks to Shane from TalkCSI for the heads up.
