Emmy Nomination Ballots Released

The CSI series are up for Emmy consideration in acting, writing and directing categories.

All three members of the CSI franchise have actors and episodes on the nomination ballot for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards. The official nominations will be chosen from this ballot, and the nominees will be announced Thursday, July 16. Chandra Wilson (Grey's Anatomy) and Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory) will make the announcements along with Television Academy chair John Shaffner.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: New York have been submitted for consideration in the "Outstanding Drama Series" category. Stars from each show have been submitted in the actor categories. William Petersen (Gil Grissom) and Laurence Fishburne (Dr Ray Langston) were submitted in the "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series" category for CSI, along with fellow star George Eads (Nick Stokes). Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) was submitted for "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series". CSI: Miami stars David Caruso (Horatio Caine) and Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) were submitted in the lead categories for their show. For New York, Gary Sinise (Mac Taylor) and Melina Kanakaredes (Stella Bonasera) are up for consideration.

All three members of the franchise submitted entries for "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series" and "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series". CSI put Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders) and Robert David Hall (Dr Al Robbins) on the ballot. Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko), Jonathan Togo (Ryan Wolfe) and Eva La Rue (Natalia Boa Vista) were submitted for Miami, and CSI: NY offered Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer), Hill Harper (Dr Sheldon Hawkes) and AJ Buckley (Adam Ross).

The "Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series" and "Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series" categories received submissions from CSI and New York. Former CSI series regular Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) was entered for "The Happy Place", the episode in which she revisited the Pamela Adler case from season one's "Too Tough to Die". Glenne Headly was also nominated for her role in "The Happy Place". Headly played Viviana Conway, aka Madame Marvelous, a hypnotist with a penchant for robbing banks. Tippi Hedren was nominated for "Young Man With a Horn", in which she played Karen Rosenthal, the owner of an old Vegas casino where her husband was murdered 50 years ago.

CSI: NY submitted several guest stars for Emmy consideration. Ed Asner is on the ballot for his role in "Yahrzeit". He played a Jewish clockmaker, Abraham Klein, who had a sinister secret lurking in his past. Two actors were submitted for "Greater Good": Mare Winningham and Charles S Dutton. Winningham played Katharine Donovan, a grieving mother out for revenge. Dutton portrayed Talmadge Neville, the man who served time for killing Katharine's daughter despite being innocent of the crime.

In the "Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series" category, CSI submitted "Young Man With a Horn", "For Warrick", "19 Down", "One to Go", "Deep Fried and Minty Fresh", "The Descent of Man", "A Space Oddity", "Say Uncle", "Miscarriage of Justice", "Let it Bleed", "Turn, Turn, Turn" and "The Gone Dead Train". New York submitted "Grounds for Deception" and "Yahrzeit". In "Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series", CSI: NY entered "Yahrzeit" for consideration, and CSI entered "One to Go", "19 Down", "Turn, Turn, Turn" and "Mascara".

The original information was pulled from the following pages: Programs, Performers, Writing and Directing. Any errors or omissions are unintentional.

Hmmm. Interesting. I would have thought that George Eads would have gone in for supporting, but it's cool to see him take a step up to Lead. I can picture PG going in for supporting before RDH. But maybe it's just me.

I really hope Emily wins something, she's been doing such a great work on CSI:Miami and this season was one of the best for her to show how talented she is!!!

Gooooo Emily

And all the others too

You know? These sumbissions always crack me up.
IDK, they always seem to me like strange submissions made in order to make everyone happy

As for the submission, I agree with csifann1, hopefully they'll take her into consideration, at least

I have to agree with you there. I mean I love AJ and all and think he's fantastic, but Eddie so deserves to be put up.

I'm happy Melina's been put up. And I agree with csifann that Emily should win something

I'm pretty sure the actors submit themselves for consideration.

So you're telling me that, probably, Eva La Rue, who has been on CSI:Miami for possibely 5 seconds in this season (oh yeah she had an episode), submitted herself for consideration? "Pfff", sorry, but I'll say that it's even weirder than I could have imagined

Faylinn's right. It's the actors and their management/agency that decide whether to submit or which category to submit for. It's interesting to see how actors and their "people" play the game. lol.

i think they mostly do it cuz everybody does it, but we all know nobody from CSI ever gets a nod, not to mention an Emmy (except when the original show was new.) i'm still kind of surprised they continue doing it knowing it's for nothing. it's probably the agents' job to a certain degree, though.

Maybe they think it can't hurt anything. It is strange that the actors just submit themselves (and their agency/management). Perhaps for some it's for publicity even if it's limited.

I'm sure the actors know (at times) that it's pointless as far as actually getting nominated, but the work is likely done by the actors' publicists/management,& they're probably just doing thier job by pushing the actor/actress towards being recognized by the academy.

Well to me, when you keep submitting people knowing that, no matter what, the Academy is going to ignore you...well it's just useless and it's going to hurt someone. I mean if the Academy keeps ignoring the three CSIs, what can people think of these shows which keep submitting with no results? Surely, they're stubborn, but then again, what else?
IDK, this isn't that kind of publicity I'd look for my client, if I were an Agency

I think it doesn't look as bad for them because basically every TV show does the same thing. I mean, pretty much every actor on Gossip Girl was submitted. That has to say something.

It says lots of things...still, I find it pretty stupid

It just angers me that the Academy doesn't recognize procedural dramas. What I don't get is how Mariska Hagitay wins every other year, but NOONE from CSI ever even gets a nod? All the other cop shows get a shot...
