    The new season is off to a good start.<p>The premiere of <I>CSI: Miami</I>'s seventh season earned the top spot on Monday with 16.87 million viewers and a 5.1 rating/13 share in the crucial 18-49 demographic. <I>Miami</I> easily beat the second half of a two-hour <I>Heroes</I> premiere, which earned 9.61 million viewers (4.9/12 in 18-49) at 10:00pm, dropping to 9.52 million at the half-hour (4.8/12). <I>Boston Legal</I>'s premiere came in last with 9.41 million viewers and 2.4/6. <I>CSI: Miami</I> was up from last season's <A class="link" HREF="http://www.csifiles.com/news/300907_01.shtml">premiere</a> (14.8 million) and <A class="link" HREF="http://www.csifiles.com/news/260508_03.shtml">finale</a> (16.07 million).<p><I>CSI: New York</I> aired it's fifth season premiere on Wednesday and won the timeslot with 14.59 million viewers and a 4.0/11 in the 18-49 demo. It beat out the second half of a two-hour <font color=yellow>David Blaine</font> special, which earned 7.13 million viewers and 2.6/7 overall, and <I>Lipstick Jungle</I>, which pulled in 6.25 million viewers and a score of 2.4/6. The ratings for <I>CSI: NY</I> were up significantly from last season's <A class="link" HREF="http://www.csifiles.com/news/300907_01.shtml">premiere</a> (12.72 million) and <A class="link" HREF="http://www.csifiles.com/news/260508_03.shtml">finale</a> (11.71 million). <I>New York</I>'s lead-in, <I>Criminal Minds</I>, posted the highest numbers for the night with its fourth season premiere at 9:00pm. It had 17.00 million viewers and 4.7/12 in the 18-49 demo.<p><I>CSI: Crime Scene Investigation</I> won't be premiering until October 9, so it aired a repeat on Thursday at 10:00pm, an hour later than its usual timeslot. It pulled in a second place 9.40 million viewers and a third place 2.6/7 in 18-49 behind the second half of a two-hour season premiere of <I>Grey's Anatomy</I>, which earned 18.28 million viewers (18.35 at the half-hour) and 7.4/18 (7.6/19 at 10:30pm).     Congratulations to Miami and New York! Both up on last year's premiere and finale ratings. :) I hope that the numbers continue to look this good throughout the season. :thumbsup: I'm sure that CSI's ratings on Thursday will be pretty good too. It's a great start for the franchise.
