  • The Huntsville Times reports that Hill Harper (CSI: New York's Dr Sheldon Hawkes) will be a guest speaker at next week's 30th annual United Negro College Fund Gala. The event takes places March 20 at Oakwood University, and Harper will be joined by Tonea "Tommie" Stewart, his costar from Constellation.

  • Winston Ellis, who appeared in the second and third Pirates of the Caribbean movies, will guest star in an upcoming episode of CSI: New York. His full list of credits can be found on IMDb. (Source: GetReading)

  • Dr Roland Kohr hates the CSI shows. The coroner gave an audience at the Vigo County Public Library in Indiana ten reasons why last Monday, such as: Why in the heck do the CSIs use flashlights when they could just turn on the lights?

Visit the Tribune Star for the original story.

  • Bebo, an online social networking site that streams television shows like CSI as part of the CBS Audience Network, is going to be acquired by AOL for $850 million. (Source: Adweek)

  • With new episodes on the horizon, networks like CBS are viewing March and April as an important time to reassure advertisers and to draw audiences back after the strike so they will return next season. CSI: Miami is one of the first shows to make a comeback on March 24.

  • Matt Jorgenson, director of the Greeley/Weld County Crime Lab in Colorado, wishes the CSI shows weren't so popular:

Because of the shows, people believe forensic evidence can be used to prove crimes without any doubt. That isn't always the case. Much more documentation is needed for real crime investigations, and we can't wrap up the investigation in just one hour, like they do on TV.

The original article is from the Greeley Tribune.

  • Nyotaimori/Nantaimori, or naked sushi, was featured in the CSI: New York episode "Grand Master" during the show's first season. Visitors to the Minneapolis restaurant Temple can duplicate the experience for themselves. (Source: TwinCities.com)

  • The NY Daily News reported on a survey conducted by Latitude Research for SpikeTV and TV Guide which rated the three CSI leading ladies based on which one men said they'd like to have an office romance with. Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) came out on top with 37% of the votes, Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) got 34%, and Melina Kanakaredes (Stella Bonasera) wound up third with a respectable 27%.

Yes, it's something that I often think about myself whilst watching the show. Sometimes it makes sense, but mostly it just looks ridiculous.

Re: News Bullets

Maybe its the fact that your eyes will focus and pick out bits of evidence more easily when the primary light source is being focused on a small area!?!?

tv shows do not make people stupid, they already came like that. Seriously, if someone is too dumb not to understand the difference between reality and tv, then they probably should not be on a jury.

I thought the flashlight thing was because of fear that the switch may have prints on it they need to collect

I thought it was not to turn on a panic room switch by mistake.

Re: News Bullets

I thought it was like that in real life. They like to leave the crime scene like it is. Not to mention the flash lights bring more things to the eye. Oblique lighting method comes to mind...

Hey, if you mistake a big-arse red button for a lightswitch, you deserve to get locked in.
