Found a copy at Barnes & Noble. It's a great article about what happened, the surgery, his recovery and how he works out now.

Thanks for posting the article Snowkey :)

I just finished reading the article. 215 stitches  that is one major scar. I can relate to George not wanting to play basketball anymore. No basketball injury for me though. Mine was volleyball

And Maverick is still going strong at 12 years of age :) I'm glad to hear that :)

Thank you so much for sharing that Smokey!

I am so happy and relieved that he is doing so well, he certainly is disciplined!

And what more can I say but...you bring it George..and you bring it good

Thanks very much - very interesting article.

Now if only there was a way to speed up international mail delivery...

Heh. It'd also be faster if I'd emailed my friends to get them to pick up a copy of the magazine - which, I realise, I have yet to do. :shifty:

    I blame the turkey...

    You're an angel Smokey.

Glad to see he has his weekly one-on-one time with Maverick.

And from someone who's only had something like 5 stiches (got hit behind the ear with a golf club by my best friends brother) - 215 stiches!

I can't imagine having to basically learn to walk again for someone as active as he is. :(

I thought it was a great article with some awesome pictures. I know that he already mentioned how it happened on Craig Ferguson and it was repeated in the article, but it was interesting to read about his recovery and how he works out now.

    I'm so glad he's okay.

And Maverick is still around, that's great for a Lab. And I'm sure it's because his 'daddy' take him to the best vet clinic in all of LA!

And I'll still stand on this point-had there been universal health care, George would have not have suffered as long as he had..

Then again..he is stubborn, he probably didn't want to go the doctor. MEN!

You know I've been thinking about this. I know he didn't have the money to go to the doctor and probably thought it wasn't that serious, but...

if he did and it showed that his back was broken, I'm sure his parents would have paid for his treatment. Of course, his step-father is a doctor (albeit a OB-GYN), but still, I'm sure he could have gotten George looked at.

I'm sure it was his stubborn Texan pride that kept him from doing that. Wanting to make it on his own and I admire that, but geesh next time get it checked out. :)

Oh I agree with you Speedy, his parents are well off and would have gladly taken care of his back.

So it was pride and toughness that became his undoing.
