    Nashville
    Season 4 Premiere - Wednesday, September 23rd at 10pm ET/9pm CT

    about
"Music City" can mean so many things to different people. In Nashville, musicians and songwriters are at the heart of the storms driven by their own ambitions. Some are fueled by their creativity and passion for fame, others struggle to cope with the pressures of success and doing everything in their power to stay on top.

    Season 1

    Music legend
Rayna Jaymes reigns as the Queen of Country, but after two decades, her grip on the throne is slipping. Rayna refuses to be steamrolled by her record label as they present a new arrangement. And in the face of an evolving industry, Rayna is struggling to adapt and reinvent herself, which she must do if she plans to stay relevant.

Juliette Barnes is sexy, sassy, and trails trouble in her wake— she's also the country's #1 crossover artist. In her climb to the top, Juliette's public image is threatened by circumstances she struggles to control. And while she is determined to sit on Rayna's throne, Juliette refuses to deal with her difficult past.

Offstage, things aren't much smoother for Rayna. Her father, Lamar Wyatt, Nashville's most influential businessman, continues to complicate her life. Their strained relationship is defined by years of resentment and secrets that come to a head when Lamar and Rayna's sister, Tandy, push Rayna's husband to run for mayor. For husband
Teddy Conrad, this marks an opportunity to share the spotlight with his wife instead of continuing to be the man behind the woman.

The city of Nashville is the stage for many hopefuls:
Deacon Claybourne, Rayna's longtime bandleader whose unrequited love for Rayna prevents him from claiming success if he went on his own. Scarlett O'Connor, the beautiful and gifted songwriter, who's here to support her boyfriend Avery's talent while still unsure of her own. Avery Barkley, a struggling alt-country musician, who can't help but feel left behind when his girlfriend Scarlett's songs have a chance to find an audience before his own. And Gunnar Scott, a wholesome up-and-coming crooner, who finds a musical soulmate in Scarlett, coming in between her relationship with Avery.

    Season 2

Rayna survives the horrific car crash that left her fighting for her life. She embarks on a battle with Jeff Fordham, the slimy new head of Edgehill Records. The guy steals Will Lexington away from Rayna's Highway 65 label. A war begins.

Juliette Barnes has an affair with the married, Charlie Wentworth. She eventually realizes that the love she's been searching for is right in front of her in Avery. Juliette's affair and an out-of-context quote about God makes her persona non grata in Nashville.

Reality TV star Layla Grant enhances her brand by hooking up with Will, who doesn't want the world to know he's gay. Gunnar strikes up a relationship with Scarlett's BFF, Zoey. He makes a name for himself by writing a hit song for superstar Luke Wheeler. As for Will, he becomes suicidal after sleeping with Jeff Fordham's former right-hand man, Brent. Fortunately, Gunnar is there to help his pal through.

Deacon overcomes his addiction issues. The truth comes out that he's Maddie's real father. The entire family effectively neutralizes the media stir, but Teddy worries he's losing his daughter. He has no idea that his lover, Peggy, suffered a miscarriage. The two marry, but Peggy is gunned down by a man who was targeting the mayor.

Rayna's sister, Tandy, goes in cahoots with the feds to take down her father. She believes Lamar was responsible for her mother's death. This causes much friction between Tandy and Rayna. Lamar passes away while threatening Teddy, who finds comfort for his own grief with Megan, the woman who was dating Deacon.

Juliette joins Rayna's Highway 65 label. These two music superstars must learn to get along if there's any chance for success. The label's other artist, a pill-popping Scarlett, has a major meltdown onstage. She bows out of the spotlight, but will it be forever?

Jeff Fordham has sex with an intoxicated Juliette, who now wonders if she's lost Avery. Rayna accepts Luke Wheeler's marriage proposal in the middle of a concert. A short time later, Deacon hands her the engagement ring he gave her many years ago. The next move is all on Rayna.

FYI: ABC didn't post any recap for Season 3, so here's details for the Season 3 Finale below.

As Deacon's transplant surgery approaches, Rayna does her best to bring the family together and set aside her tension with Deacon's sister, but Beverly is still holding a grudge. Rayna is unpleasantly surprised when Beverly tells Maddie and Daphne that she's thinking of staying in Nashville after the operation. Deacon is anxious and unable to shake a growing premonition that something will go horribly wrong during the surgery.

Deacon's Dr. Rand asks Scarlett to move in with him, and she agrees. She's writing a new song, inspired by Deacon and Rayna, and sends the lyrics to Gunnar so he can work on the music.

Having just completed her album, Juliette pushes full steam ahead to set a release date and get out on tour. But a confrontation with Rayna leads her to grab her album and leave Highway 65. During an argument over her priorities with Avery, she hurls a snowglobe at him and baby Cadence, and he tells her to leave. Later he finds out she's fired Glenn, and done the unthinkable by hiring Jeff Fordham as her new manager.

Layla finally gets clued into Jeff's manipulative and controlling ways, and discovers he intentionally sabotaged her job and relationship with pop diva Jade St. John (Christina Aguilera). She confronts him, after violently attacking his car with a golf club. But his explanation that he did it all because he was afraid of losing her seems to work, because she forgives him.

    cont'd below...

Will asks Kevin to lie to the media at a press conference after a tabloid publishes photos of them together, outing him. But after watching Kevin lie to everyone, Will realizes it's time to tell the truth. He comes out, sending shockwaves through Nashville, and his father (Rex Linn) walks out on him again. But Will seems relieved and happy, and tells Kevin he loves him.

Jeff brings Juliette to sign with Luke and his Wheelin' Dealin' Records, and Luke gives her Will's spot on his tour. Juliette's return to the stage is a huge success and she's overjoyed. But her behavior has completely alienated Avery. He confronts her about hiring Jeff, the man she cheated on him with, but Juliette clearly cares more about her career than anything else. Avery grabs a bag and leaves.

In the hospital, Deacon is still a mess. He flashes back to his premonition as Beverly gets wheeled away to the operating room, and then proposes to Rayna. He begs her to marry him before his surgery. Rayna refuses, but recites wedding vows with him and he calms down.

Kylie is still staying with Gunnar, and she asks him to go with her to visit Micah in Texas. He agrees, with the caveat that their relationship remain platonic to protect Micah's feelings. Before they leave, he makes a stop at the hospital where Deacon is still in surgery. He plays the song for Scarlett, and then asks her to sing it for him. By the end of the song, the pair is dangerously close to kissing.

Meanwhile, someone is flatlining on the operating table. Dr. Rand walks into the waiting room and tells Rayna he has bad news for her. Meanwhile, on the TV screen behind her is breaking news coverage of Mayor Teddy Conrad's arrest on corruption charges.

    NASHVILLE
    Wednesday, March 16, 10pm ET/9pm CT, ABC

After 75 episodes of boot-rocking chemistry, wedding bells are finally ringing for Nashville's Rayna James (Connie Britton) and Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten). Following the long-awaited proposal in the midseason finale (and a short time jump), the drama returns tonight with the country crooners tying the knot. "I've always been a big advocate for the two of them getting together," Britton says. "Instead of just seeing them struggling with their past, it would be interesting to see them struggling with their present a little bit."

But don't expect an event the size of Kim's Fairytale Wedding. "I would say there's probably not a lot of similarities between Rayna and Kim Kardashian!" Britton quips. Instead, the ceremony will be an intimate affair. "It feels like the wedding Rayna has always wanted. She wants the people she loves most and cares about to be there, and she wants it to stay out of the press."

Rayna also has plenty of meat for Britton to dig into over the rest of the season. As she and Deacon adjust to married life, their daughter, Maddie (Lennon Stella), will cause more trouble than ever. And the singer turned record-label owner will again focus on her own music—a plotline Britton requested. "I said, 'I miss it,' and I imagine Rayna misses it too."

Britton is pulling double duty this spring, appearing as the morally corrupt Faye Resnick on The People v. O.J. Simpson (Tuesdays, 10pm ET/9pm CT, fX). While she has yet to meet the real-life friend of Nicole Brown Simpson, Britton researched her life thoroughly and read her controversial bestselling book. Says Britton: "It's a tell-all, so that was helpful!"
